For those who may not be aware of it, Scottsdale, Arizona is considered by many as a version of Beverly Hills in the Phoenix area. Upscale homes, designer shops and more golf courses than you could ever need to play on. Fairly soon, the city of Scottsdale will have its own upscale medical marijuana dispensary as well.
The citizens of Arizona approved Proposition 203 last November that allowed for medical marijuana dispensaries to open up and distribute medicinal pot. Currently the Arizona Department of Health will be awarding 126 medical marijuana licenses throughout the state. A group of three doctors has placed a bid for one of those licenses and to set up a medical marijuana dispensary in Scottsdale.
What makes this upscale, luxury medical marijuana dispensary unique is that one; it is located in very expensive real estate. In addition, the three doctors who will be operating this medical marijuana dispensary have said that they will be donating all profits to qualified charities according to their license application.
It would seem that this is a step in the direction to try to not only legitimizes medical marijuana to the community; it also brings an upscale face to it as well. Three well established doctors will be running the medical marijuana dispensary and by donating the profits, they keep the criminal element out of the equation. This might be a business model that other communities would want to emulate.
