Well this is a big step.
Realising i have an addiction.
Do i smoke,No
Do i drink,Occasional
Do i take drugs,No
It has to be sex,No

What is this mystery that i have succumbed too and i now cant resist.

Golf.
Yes thats right Golf.
How can you be addicted to that "its only hitting a small ball into a hole".
Even my wife said before i started divorce proceedings "it cant be that difficult".

Was there any clues i was becoming an addict.
I was only an occasional player so i purchased a cheap second hand set and played a couple of times.
First round was 115.
Second round 103 hey this is getting better i hit a straight ball.
I started leaving the office early to get on the course and in a year started going round in 90.
Now i am getting serious.
I now have golf friends.
People who play all the time and have the latest clubs.
I am hooked.
I need to get lower scores.
How can i do that.
I know it must be i need new clubs.
Callaway there the best so off i got the golf shop new clubs, new bag had to have an odyssey putter.
New waterproofs that match my bag.
New glove.
No more loosing cheap balls i am now going to loose expensive balls.
New golf shoes there a must.
My phonebook has grown by 30 people all from the golf course.
Texting,Asking for a round,Do you want to play tomorrow.
So now i am 2000 pounds lighter but i have all the gear and a few friends.
I am not embarrassed on the first tee anymore.
My callway tour bag looks damn good from anywhere.
I then started going to the driving range to buy a bucket of balls and hit them into a field.
trust me until you have done it,it is great,My local driving range even has targets to hit.
I even take aim at the teenager in a little buggy that is driving around collecting the used balls.(this could get me in serious trouble as i am now getting closer).
The pressure of getting that score lower is immense.
No drinking on friday nights anymore as i play saturday morning(i need a clear head).
Perhaps i should watch pro dvd lessons.
Got them.
Even when my wife had a son i purchased a junior starter set just incase he likes it.
I know i need a holiday to take my mind off it.
Me and 3 friends went to portugal for a week playing Golf.
I am now shooting 83 to 86 but why o why wont that ball go in the hole.
It is after all only hitting a ball with a stick.
Please ball go in the hole you have me hook line and sinker.
I will keep hitting you,I will never stop whacking you with a stick but please just go in the hole.
I even arrange my working week around a couple of rounds of golf and atleast one trip to the driving range.
That teenager picking up them balls better keep moving.
Thanks for supporting me in my addiction

10 months ago: Stay away from those new Taylor Made Drivers!!!

Those white ones.

If you ever hit one and hit a drive with the driver over 300 yards, you'll never be able to get away from it. Never.

(Imagine just hitting wedges into par 4s and 4 irons into par 5's. Eagles will follow. Oh....you're in big trouble.)

10 months ago: I am an addict also. Was up to three times a week after work and 36 holes on Sunday. I had some glow in the dark balls for winter, because we always got caught by the dark on the back nine. I went through four sets of clubs in two years, and was spending hundreds on green fees. I once almost gave myself heat stroke walking a round on a 100 degree day.

Some men slip off to get a drink, some disappear to find a woman, but not me. If my wife didn't know where I was, she could always come find me at my favorite place to work on my short game. But she did an intervention, and informed me that she was more important than my pastime. That was about ten years ago. Now I'm lucky to get to hit a bucket or twelve at the driving range.
10 months ago: Me to outta.

When I get to play, I play golf "until dark 30". I am unable to leave the golf course until it is too dark to play any more.

I am even more devilish. I have about convinced my young children that they can get a scholarship to college if they practice and play hard.

Oh, whoa is me.
10 months ago: It is great that there are other people that have the experience of what i am going through.
They have put a hill at 250 yards on the driving range its about 20 or 30 feet high.
Now my aim is to hit a ball over that hill as there is a par 3 behind it.
Currently i am about half way up it but i will get there.
Golf is my only vice and red if i get to 300 yards i agree i aint never gonna stop.
When i started the aim was for a par.
Then a birdie.
Now when i drop a shot i get pure anger inside me.
I want an eagle.
I need that eagle.
Box 36 holes on a sunday,
Thats a great idea i havent tried 36 holes yet.
I may well try that to get me from staring at the Jehovas witnesses that walk past my drive.
10 months ago: I remember back at my first game with my Bro-in-law who was a decorated golfer... well he took me out to teach me this game... but it wasn't... it was serious! He said he play me 9 and see if I could keep up... well, I didn't mess around, I attacked that game like it was baseball... did a few Happy Gilmore's... and kicked his butt! First-time luck, and he was sooooo embarrassed he had to play me another 9 !:]

That's all I got...
10 months ago: Red,Out,

I now have a picture of you 2 trying to hit the ball in the dark trying to see where your going.
Truth,
Happy gilmore makes me giggle.
I havent played in the dark yet but i have started in the pitch black at 5 am to beat the cues on saturday.
I got to the 3 hole and it was light though so i only lost a couple of balls.
10 months ago: I am not sure if anyone else has encountered this problem i suffered today on the course.
It was raining heavy and i had arranged a game.
Took the labels off my new waterproofs and off i go.
Meet up with 2 friends and tee off on time.12.15
It says on the scorecard no round should take longer than 3 and a half hours.
We got to the fifth tee and we grounded to a halt.
In the distance were 4 figures being extremely slow.
When we got to the sixth tee there were two groups of 4 old ladies hitting the balls no more than 40 yards.
Infront of them were a few groups of older men taking there time in the rain.
My round today took 5 hours,I contemplated walking off and going to the club shop and trying to get e refund.
I didnt as i quite like the course.
Now i have nothing against ladies playing golf or older men for that matter.
But why did the club let these kind of people book on a weekend which is always busy.
I found myself say to one lady on the tee just hit it will ya.
She wiggled her bum more times than beyonce setting up to strike the ball.
I dont think she liked the comment and i did feel a little bad while i stood under my brolly.
Thanks for ruining a great day in the rain.

10 months ago: While it is still considered impolite to ask to play through, it is even more so to ignore the need of your fellow golfer to do so. I've been known to accidentally tee off while the proceeding party was just out of my driver's range. OOPS!
10 months ago: That would not go down well at the club i am playing at the moment,
I must admit though i have often thought about booming a driver over the top of a few slow players.
It would be great just to see there faces.
