Quit the job, sell everything, and spend a year traveling with the kids. Easy to say, hard to do. Not at all. The Redpath house is sold, both cars are sold, their possessions too, and they are hitting the road with their two kids. Brenna, Bob, Owen and Eleanor are now in Serbia.
Earlier this year, Bob and Brenna Redpath of Los Angeles decided to leave it all behind. “We’re going to let serendipity take over and we love the idea of absorbing what it’s like to live in other cultures”. They sold their Glendale house, their two cars (the van two hours before they left for the airport), and their household goods in a charity garage sale. Strapping their remaining possessions to two children, Owen, 10, and Eleanor, 7, the LA Redpath family set off to travel across Europe for a year. “We’ll be seeking out others who’ve decided to change their lives and take control; we want to make new connections; we want to experience global community.”
The Redpath family’s story is nothing short of inspiration for the rest of us just waiting for that kick of courage to get up and go. The Redpath family’s blog is definitely worth a look. From the left-side menu, click on the external link.
