Thank somebody (I'm an agnostic)!!! Americans finally seem to be spending less. Everyone I ask says that they are saving much more money than last year. I see and hear about the ways in which they are doing so: People are getting haircuts at home, growing gardens, trading in new leases for bought clunkers (older, uglier cars anyway), skipping desserts, paying off their debts faster, buying many more generic items, buying brand name items in bulk, moving to cheaper apartments, dining out much less often, using coupons, sticking with their "old" computers, sticking with their non-HD TV's, carpooling, using scooters, bikes, or walking to go short distances instead of cars, renting instead of buying movies, not buying music CD's, not going to the cinema, not getting new furniture or appliances, not remodeling, not buying jewelry, and just plain putting their money in savings.
This is great. (Lower) Middle-class America is finally realizing that the international banking cartel's goal is to keep everyone in debt, lots of debt. This is an extremely elementary concept. Debt equals interest, which means the banks make money by not doing anything but counting their growing supply of money. I'm not talking about small-town banks. We all know who the big bad ones are.
If the American people continue saving, we will lower the international banking cartel's power. They will have to offer much lower-interest rates on EVERYTHING to keep up their volume of business. This will not, however, happen in the next few months. I believe that every American's goal should be stinginess for the rest of Barack's term. I figure four years of significantly lower bank, Wall Street, and financial sector profits will show the cartel that Americans mean business. Maybe we can even realize Barack's dream of bringing back the very satisfied middle-class that existed during the baby boom.
And no we do not need war to do that. I believe the idea that war is good for a country financially is absurd. The only ones that will reap the benefits of war are companies and individuals (politicians and their buddies) that are specifically invested in it (arms dealers, construction contractors, "security" firms, oil companies, and BANKS).
Finally, who cares if some major corporations go under??? Only their stockholders, that's who. This is a major recession and the major corporations are totally tied to the cartel. Only the smartest and most ethical businesses will survive if Americans continue being thrifty. This is Darwin time. Even in the U.S., five-percent of the people control ninety-five percent of the wealth and land. Lets collectively show these richest of the rich that they are not going to be in control for much longer.
I do not care about the right-wing arguments at all. There is no trickle-down effect. Unionization was the primary driving force that helped create the extremely satisfied baby-boom middle class. I also do not agree with many of the liberal arguments. Considering the policies of most of the companies that the U.S. government bailed out, it was like putting a band-aid on a gunshot wound to the head. That's what capitalism is. If you fail to make a profit, you should GO OUT OF BUSINESS.
There's always someone more efficient, innovative, and hopefully more ethical to take your place. This would make room for many more successful small businesses. Yes, when major corporations go under thousands of jobs are lost. But how many people are really content to spend their lives working for a low-paying corporation only to create larger profits for its stockholders and executives???
