Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the fearless leader of Iran, is taking a page from the Barack Obama playbook. The Iranians have an election coming up, this June. Ahmadinejad, believing he can be an agent of change and hope, carefully considered a campaign slogan and decided on “Yes we can!”
In the promotional video, made for the upcoming election, Ahmadinejad is seen standing in front of a chalk board, pointing to a Farsi phrase, which translates to “yes we can.”
I think this is a brilliant strategy, on the part of Ahmadinejad. Clearly, he knows a winning strategy, when he sees one. However, he’s soon going to need to distance himself from an extreme religious leader and deny any knowledge of a friend’s terrorist past.
Then, once elected, he’ll hurdle Iran into the greatest debt the nation has ever know, all while preaching fiscal responsibility and a desire to turn from the politics of old. Finally, he’ll cap everything off by flying his personal jet around Ground Zero, sending New York into a panicked frenzy. Despite all of this, he will still be remembered as the greatest president in the history of Iran.
