What a week it has been so far, and there is so much more to come. I simply can not rave about sports without mixing the rave around, so I'm going to touch on a lot. Here we go, this is definitely due.
NHL: Simply stated, the NHL Playoffs are the most exciting playoffs, period. These teams have already developed a grudge during the regular season, and then you confine them to a rink and allow fighting, beautiful. The only unfortunate aspect is that the Capitals and Penguins are playing each other too early. That said, what a series. You have a game with hat tricks by the best 2 players in the league, Ovechkin and Sid the Man. You have energy, emotion and just the right amount of dislike. And you have them playing in the best of 7, which only means that it is going to get even more hostile. What a series, I don't even know who to root for?
NBA: The Bulls/ Celts series was as good as I've ever seen, though this next round has been good as well. Chauncey Billups may be my favorite player ever, he means so much to the team and he cares so much for his home town of Denver. Combine that with Nene and his aggressive play on the court, and his work with cancer patients off the court. I didn't think I could ever say this, but the Nuggets have a chance, and I am cheering for them as never before. I hope Artest and the Rockets can continue to rough up the Lakers, and take that series deep. Lebron's Cavs are going to get there in the East, it looks unstoppable, so let's get the Nuggets there and see what their bench and hot streak can do. I do think the whistle needs to be held on some of the ejections lately, if they weren't ejected or suspended in the Bulls/Celts series, it is too late now to make up for it.
MLB: A-Rod's coming back, amidst even more scrutiny, and my fantasy baseball team welcomes him back. This whole saga is casting an even greater shadow over a terrible era in baseball, what can you do? Pujols is unbelievable, is there anything that guy can't do? I assume he's the silver lining that I hope fans will remember, I believe and desperately hope that he has been clean. As for this year, hopefully he will cool down and allow my Cubs to take over the division, this one's going to be a battle. Did I just hear that Manny has been suspended for 50 games? There goes my fantasy team!
NFL: I feel terrible for those involved in the horrific disaster at Cowboy's camp, even though I dislike the team this was terrible, I don't know if going with a different company for construction without a poor track record would have made a difference. What a way to start your NFL career. As for Favre, just get it over with, come back or not. I know some Bears defenders are licking their chops on the idea of getting a chance to take their nemesis down again, for what it's worth.
PGA: Will Tiger silence his critics this week at the TPC Sawgrass? I think so. He's an average -1 through 10 so far, but I think he will turn it on soon. He doesn't like losing like he did last week, flailing a bit on a Sunday (that's unheard of), I think he will be show great resilience. Philly could give him a run for his money, this one should be good. Sawgrass is an amazing course, should be good television, if a bit slow for your average sports fan.
This seems like enough for now, time to watch for more notable stories!
