For the second week in a row 99ers will join forces and come together on FaceBook and Twitter (99erAid) to make their concerns and points of view known. Last weeks event could best be described as organized chaos, but there was no shortage of excellent ideas and valid concerns.
Recent events in the middle east continue to inspire other groups all across the globe and even the U.S. does not appear to be immune to citizens making their displeasure with government known.
While the 99ers probably do have the numbers nationwide, our ability to rally like union workers in WI remains in question. Social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook offer 99ers an opportunity to gather in cyberspace in sufficient numbers get some media attention - if we can get the word out. This could be the springboard that the 99ers need to actually start a movment that Congress cannot ignore.
Hopefully this venue will lead to an agenda that all unemployed and their supports can get behind. Right now what 99ers need most is a spoke person and a list of demand...for example cutting off all military aid to the middle east to fund Tier 5. The Rands currently are working on an amendment to end foreign aid to Israel, Pakistan and Egypt. 99ers should support this amendment and demand the savings be used to pay for unemployment benefit extensions.
