Not likely that this post will do too much. But I'll try anyway. Did you folks catch the news today that didn't have to do with local unemployment? I mean the section that came out with the Census information.

Seems that there are some big losers and some big winners. Mostly the Northern and Western States are the losers. The Southern States seem to be the big winners.

What exactly does that mean? Texas picks up 4 seats. Can you do that math?

That means that Texas grew by more than 1 million people during the last 10 years. Yeah, yeah. Cry all you like about how we rob you of your life blood with every drop of oil. My rebuttal to that would be...How many oil fields and refineries do you have in your State?

Next will be the slap down that Texas is full of nothing but backward rednecks. My rebuttal to that would be that if that were true we would not have increased our population by 1 million people while you in the North and West are losing yours.

Might have to get a tad bit deeper to figure out how us dumb folk in Texas work.

I emphasise...WORK.

Not likely that we will be voting out any of our representatives. Our system seems to be working better than most.

Need more scoop on how your State fared in this political turn over?

The decline of the northern urban settings?

http://dc.streetsblog.org/2010/12/21/cen...

States gaining seats are Arizona (+1), Florida (+2), Georgia (+1), Nevada (+1), South Carolina (+1), Texas (+4), Utah (+1), and Washington (+1). Of those eight, five voted Republican in the last presidential election, and seven voted Republican in the two elections before that. Washington is the only reliably blue state gaining seats.

The losing states are Illinois (-1), Iowa (-1), Louisiana (-1), Massachusetts (-1), Michigan (-1), Missouri (-1), New Jersey (-1), New York (-2), Ohio (-2), and Pennsylvania (-1). Of those 10 states, six are solid Democratic and two are solid Republican, and two swing both ways.

And every democrat thought the last election was a flash in the pan. Seems like they didn't see that fire before it happened.

I feel bad for Canada, though...
