12 Ideas RantRave Might Experiment with to Improve Everyone's Earnings

foreword: I love RantRave.com. I write for the site all the time. So, I've been pondering ways in which the incredible site developers could improve theirs as well as our bottom line. I've been working at this a month and have earned around $10. That's awesome, but there could be so much more. So, here we go in no particular order…

1) Other Affiliates:
Utilize their same ingenious technology that allows for alternating page loads to share the Google AdSense wealth to allow for Amazon.com Affiliate sharing. This would open up a whole new realm of ranting and raving on books, authors, and just about every product in the free world.

2) Facebook Fans:
Advertising on Facebook is great, it's how I found out about RantRave in the first place. Ah, but there's no Facebook Group / Fan Page? Create one immediately and let the viral marketing flow. Add the RSL feed to the group and let the rants and raves flow to group members making them more aware of the latest hot topics. It's free marketing and the 200 members of RantRave right now would make for a huge Facebook Group overnight with each one drawing 1 or 2 friends along for the ride!

3) Other Affiliates Part 2:
Partner with other affiliates such as art.com and open up the realm of images we could use along with our posts. Allow us to put the links that load the posters into our image spots. So for example, if I'm an affiliate of art.com, I could put an affiliate link to a poster picture of Barack Obama with my rave of his inaugural address, the poster image would load without copyright violations and that would then earn me money for every sale directed to art.com from my affiliate link. There are tons of other possibilities in this area.

4) Profile Page Affiliate Links:
Allow us to put up our own affiliate links on our own profile page as in "Raves: Places I Shop, Sites I Frequent, etc."

5) More Links, Clicks, and Views:
• Auto-add links to our posts that would be "see more rants by this author" or "see more raves by this author". In the world of making money online, it's all about clicks, links, and page views. But, it's not easy to find stuff on the Rant Rave.com. I was trying to find a rant I remembered reading a few days ago, but I couldn't recall who wrote it. Finally, I had to resort to the "search function" arrggghhh.
• At the same time, allow us fields to enter links to other rants or raves that we see as being related. We can add links now, but these should be special and categorized as "related rants" or "related raves".
• Also, move the category links now buried at the bottom of the RantRave site to the top in a graphically classy way. This will draw more clicks as more readers will see them.

6) Share the Search Money:
Allow us to get in on the "Google Search" by sharing ½ the search revenue as we could supply our Google AdSense search code just like we supplied our ad code.

7) Greed is Bad, Giving is Good:
Allow us each to agree to join you in donating 10% of ours and 10% or your AdSense earnings to a worthy cause. You could do this by creating a third option in your code so that 20% of page loads would be attributed to "cause account" and any clicks would earn that cause money. You could even let us pick from a bunch of charities, which could show up on our Profile page. This allows you, in your marketing, to indicate that a percentage of profits are donated to various charities. These charities could then be called upon for co-marketing.

8) I digg this and buzz that:
Shouldn't there be ways to add digg and buzz buttons to our rants and raves such that people could digg and buzz them automatically? This would be good for everyone. In the mean time, everyone who writes for RantRave.com should submit their own stories to digg, and while there, search for all rantrave.com (use the URL search) stories and digg them. This really helps drive traffic and awareness to the RantRave.com site. Of course, you should only digg rants or raves that actually interest you and in no way am I encouraging you or anyone else to digg things they don't actually care about.

9) Add "email rant to:" and "email rave to:" links to every rant and rave so that readers can quickly email links of rants and raves they love to friends.

10) Follow My Thread:
I don't know about everyone else, but I love to know when people have commented on a thread I've also commented on so I can go back and read and respond. If there's a way for people to choose to "follow a thread" and get some notification that there's been a comment that would be awesome.

11) Polls for All
I love the weekly poll, but why not allow us to add an interactive poll to any or all of our rants or raves? Interactive polls tend to be another way to allow for a person to engage with a topic.

12) ClipArt Stock / Editorial Cartoons
You guys are correct, images enliven posts and engage readers. But many of us are writers not artists. So, how about joining a clipart service that allows for any and all of their images to be posted on your site, then we could use them at will. This would make the site more engaging and beautiful. Likewise, I bet there are burgeoning Editorial Cartoonists that would love to do cartoons for our posts for a piece of the action. How might you put a call out to them and arrange for that slice of the profit-sharing?

Ok, those are all that leap off the top of my head, but this is a thriving community of very opinionated people, what ideas do you have? Share below in the comment section please! We're all in this together: Ranters, Ravers, and our marvelous hosts.

36 months ago: Thank you for those suggestions! We welcome your ideas and love your input.

In the next week, we are actually making a number of changes to the site, including a few ideas you just suggested.

We intend to implement most of your suggestions, but we have a limited budget, so they will take time.

Lastly, concerning idea #9, that is already possible. At the bottom of each rant/rave, there is a "share" button, which allows you to email them to someone.

Thank you again and keep up the ranting! Or raving!

Tell your friends!

Of course there's already a "share". How'd I not notice it all this time. It's so funny how you can stare at something day after day and not see it.
36 months ago: Excellent ideas. While I don't post here a lot, it's a great idea for a site, and I'd love to see it grow.

36 months ago: Great post! I have one other suggestion. Make adding ads on your posts easier. I've been posting for a couple of months, and I still can't figure out how to add ads. I know, I must be an old man who can't figure out the alarm clock, but I still don't get it- and I aint even 40 yet.

Regardless, this site keeps me from going to the top of a tower with a rifle. Long live rant-rave!
36 months ago: This isn't as in0depth of a suggestion as those listed above, but what about a "Remember Me" or "Keep Me Logged In" box to check when you sign in?

Pretty much every time I'm on this site, I read a post, go to comment, and when I hit submit, it says I have to be logged on. Argh! So I have to copy what I just wrote, go log on, get back into that post, and paste what I just wrote.

It would be very nice to just be able to come to the site, and already be logged on.

Cheers!

36 months ago: Siempre Solo and Howleanne, those are very good suggestions! I hope they, too, will be considered. I have actually had the system time-out in the middle of my comment and had to log-in again. Sorry, sometimes I ponder a particular phrase for longer than a picosecond.
