These are some of the suggestions you get in order to be healthy.

Eat proper food. Sleep 8 hours a day. Do not eat junk food. Dont roam around with friends. Exercise regularly. Take your greens. Get your vitamins. Go for regular health checkups.

Turned out I was not healthy as some of my other friends, who hardly follow any of these. So I ditched them all!!!! well most of them.. Now I eat what I feel like eating.. Sleep only to the extent I feel like.. And I hardly go for any medical checkups..And I hardly think about how I healthy I am. I feel much better right now..

I do not see any reason in forcibly doing stuff, which we do not like. Nothing wrong in listening to your body( as long as it is not getting greedy), if you want your body to listen to you. At times you feel like eating something, but you make your body suffer, because you are on a diet. Well, your body will pay you back, when it get its chance.

The more you think about your health, the more shabbier it gets with all the worrying. And when you start thinking about your health, you end up worrying about it.

Now I only do the stuff I feel like doing, from the list given, and still end up healthier, and I feel much better.

Don't work more than 40 hours per week.......
Don't miss or give up your vacation time.......
Don't feed the entire world.........
Don't police the entire world........

Don't, Don't, Don't buy the new flat screen TV that is made in China as the next generation of American consumer product plants are under construction in our beloved India. Yeah, right.

Please post the healthy pictures and the toxic test results that promote the good green life in India.

I suspect that you guys in India probably eat a quarter of the food at a sitting as Americans eat. Americans also eat mostly processed foods instead of fresh fruits and vegetables, and the processed foods contain a whole bunch of both sugar salt and fat which combine to short circuit that natural feedback system where your body tells you what is good for you.

Another thing that is probably different in India is that you guys don't eat much if any meat. The animals we eat are full of growth hormones and antibiotics which are breeding drug resistant diseases. You are much better off without meat.

Finally You guys probably do a lot of physical labor. Most people in the US have sedentary jobs where they are sitting all day long. I bet all of the Indians manning the phone banks there, are not as healthy as those who do hard manual labor. Exercise is critical.

Where I disagree is that we should not make healthy changes. Sometimes your body is telling you to make a change and then you should listen. Such as sleep more or stop eating after a certain hour. It is important to be in tune with your body.

I started an exercise regimen to help fight the battle of the middle age bulge, and found I had to eat constantly to maintain consciousness. If I hadn't eaten by ten a.m. I would get pounding headaches, which disappeared within minutes of eating. I also lost over thirty pounds, while increasing my calorie intake almost double. I also felt more cravings for natural whole foods, greens, grains, proteins like fish, beans, and meats, and didn't want nearly as many fatty foods.

A chronic backache that had become part of the background noise for over ten years cleared up, and my overall stamina and sense of well-being shot through the roof. And the funny thing was, I didn't feel bad before I started, I just felt so much better after.

@Altruist- You are right on that. Your feedback system gets damaged and you might not even notice it.

@Dwayne Johnson. I do agree to the fact that we should make healthy changes..The point of the whole article was we should listen to your body, as it is a good judger of itself.. If it asks you to change for the good, so be it..

The trick is to know, whether it is ur body, or its your mind.. Your body tells you to enjoy what you are doing.. exercise or food.. your mind tells you to live like a MILLIONAIRE, and care about nothing..

Should be pretty simple, I believe..

I see! But what if your body is not working right and it is giving you mixed signals. Then what?

A classic case of what altruist said... feedbacks getting shortcircuited.. and we not able to properly identify which ones the right one.. or sometimes end up not even noticing it.. thats when we might end up drinking, or eating a bit more than what would have been comfortabl for us...
