Let's just say for the sake of argument that what we all say doesn't matter, That what it all breaks down to is a bunch of farts in the wind with nobody behind the donkeys to smell them. Let's just say for the sake of argument that this is the case. Then why in blue tarnations does it matter what we say? I've read flaming critical rhetoric spewing like lava out the mouth of supposedly conservative pundits. Words that are meant to hurt and scathe the target of their purported indignation. Then, unimaginably not a lot of time passes before the very same scandalous act is being practiced unapologetically and bombastically by the very supposed conservatives that condemned the acts not to long ago. What are the excuses ? Apparently there are none! The public is just supposed to sit back and take it! Now before someone comes along and criticizes Liberals of doing the same thing, remember that all liberals do is apologize and make excuses! The Left is notoriously too insecure and undecided about its primary focus to have the gumption to act upon it's impulses let alone slap the apposition with them in a blazon act of defiance. So no dear reader the Liberals do not do the same thing. But never fear, this is not a political rant.
What this is, is a philosophical exploration of sorts. Yes, I somewhat vaguely accuse members of certain sectors of our society of inappropriate indiscretions without substantiating it but then again I don't mention anyone in particular either so there is nor harm or foul in questioning why it matters what we say in the first place. Because this question is not just addressed to the politicos in our midst but to the religiously pious as well. Consider this for a moment: How many times have you heard a minister of some religious organization promising some form of peace or security in exchange for the pledges and devotion of its inductees and how many times in turn have you heard the lamentations of a disillusioned follower ? So why does it matter what we say?
Scientist are no better either! Every week it seems that a new study or a new discovery overturns the last one. Facts are bounced back and forth like a ball in a tennis court. While new drug combinations are promised to be the panacea of the ages. The result being, what? More half truths and misleading promises, and all for what? A supposed quest for the truth! So tell me once and for all if I can't trust the words of politicians, if I cant trust the promises of the clergy and if I can't trust the sayings of scientist then why does it matter what we say?
Philosophy posses questions and challenges dialogue that fosters the climate necessary for change and so this is a philosophical exploration of sort because I am asking: Why does it matter what we say? But it is not completely philosophical because the answer is not far from the question. In fact the answer is part of the question. In asking, "Why does it matter what we say?" We are stating a position! It could be, apathy or it could be interest, but don't be mistaken it is the answer to the question, "Why does it matter what we say?" You see, the question creates the answer. We are the subject of our own inquiry? At every turn we create a more complex response to that question. In the end we will have such a well articulated response that we will all be without excuses. We will then absolutely know the answer to the question, "Why does it matter what we say?"
