A Commentary on the banking industry and our apathy towards it and our over concern for issues that are not nearly as important in my opinion, and some ideas that might help or at least make us feel better.
According to an article in the technology section on msnbc.msn.com titled "Some call for Dec. 29 as Dump Go Daddy day" (By Suzanne Choney) "Go Daddy is the target of some angry users who want to penalize the Web hosting giant and Internet domainregistrar for its support of a controversial online piracy bill, despite Go Daddy recently retracting it after losing more than 37,000 Web domains in just the last several days, according to reports."
Go Daddy supports an online anti-piracy bill and 37,000 people move to a new domain host. Here in America our financial institutions loose trillions of dollars to bad investments and our government bails them out at our expense yet I heard nothing about a nationwide banking boycott
I am beginning to think we have our priorities a little out of whack. When we will make a dent in a web hosting company for supporting a bill that affects our ability to illegally post and download copy written materials. Doing nothing while the banking industry squanders the life savings of most of the baby boomers, to a point where they are going to have to come out of retirement to survive in their old age. In all honesty the financial industry is the one we need to boycott until the government finally regulates them into being honest for a change.
Here is what we can do, put all of your money into smaller credit unions rather than giant banking corporations. This would help to build your local economies while at the same time taking some of the power away from the banking mega powers. If enough of the American people would do this we could take back the power of our own money and build up our own local banking organizations.
When we finally begin to care as much about the corrupt banking practices being used to hit our pocket books as we do about the decisions of a web hosting company like GoDaddy, we can then begin to make a difference in this country where it really matters most, in our own homes and communities.
