Who are the Scientologists?

For 60 years the “Scientologists” have been publically making claims that the “technology” they possess is capable of making great positive changes in people.
Members have even used this board in order to assert these things.
For those who have managed to avoid them here are a few of the things they tell prospective customers that they are able to do; by the use of a simplified type of amateur psychotherapy (called “dianetics”) assisted by a lie detector like machine called the “emeter” this group claims they can erase the effects of past traumas. This is not a shocking assertion; that is what psychotherapy does and the addition of a device to help read the subject’s emotional response seems thoroughly sensible.
A few years after the establishment of the first dianetics foundation the inventor of dianetics L. Ron Hubbard announced that he had been able to regress people to a point before their birth and address traumas that had occurred in previous lives. He further claimed that by purchasing enough dianetic treatment a person could become free of all disease or physical defect and ultimately be “At cause over MEST” meaning in control of matter, energy, space and time. They could in fact become something above and beyond human. Hubbard used the phrase “Homo Novus” to describe the new superior being that he could produce from mere humans who purchased enough of his services.
Let’s fast-forward 60 years.
Hubbard has been convicted of fraud and died in hiding. Scientology is now run by David Miscavage a 9th grade drop-out with a history of violence toward his employees. Popular media is full of websites like exscientologykids that have thousands of horror stories written by people who have grown up in scientology and escaped. Legal troubles around the world are forcing scientology to give back much of the billions they have taken over the years. Some nations such as Germany and France are actually forced to consider amending their freedom of religion laws because scientology has abused them in such an unprecedented way; the founding fathers literally could not imagine such blasphemy. The prized celebrity members scientology has always used are seen as kooky and silly. Comedians use scientology’s top secret theology to fill in a few minutes.
But what about the claims themselves?
The scientology building should be filled with super powerful disease free Homo Novus.
They are not filled with anybody. The few hangers on are old and often sick from lack of proper medical treatment. Most have little or no family because of policy that forces them to disconnect from scientology critical people. Many are in financial distress because the “fixed donations” are calculated as just enough to keep the cows milkable. They have an exceptionally high suicide rate.
Just last week an anti-scientology protester in Washington D.C. was using chalk on the sidewalk in front of the scientology building to write that the scientology staff members should make a living wage (they earn about $50 a week). An elderly man ran screaming out of the building and attacked her. Other scientologists watched while the man assaulted the young woman. When the police came all the scientologists claimed nothing happened
So the science fiction dream that a magic gadget can make you super human dies slowly. Those who have thrown away their lives defending it will not go quietly.
The sociopathy that attracted them to scientology is even worse than it was.
As long as there are scientologists they will be a danger to those around them.

35 months ago: Scientologists have been really busy displaying their lack of Sooper Powers this year!

John Travolta couldn't save his son, although Hubbard said an OT could order a thetan back into its body.

OT John Gaiman just died of cancer at a relatively young age, although Hubbard said OT powers could cure physical disease.

OT Steve Brackett, affianced to Scientologist/Bart Simpson voice Nancy Cartwright, just suicided off a bridge in Big Sur. Last year he donated a million bucks to Scientology. This year, in dire financial straits, he took his life.

Kirstie Alley is an OT too. And ballooning out of control, gobbling a reported 28,000 calories a day while she spends hours on Twitter sending out sometimes incomprehensible tweets.

Yeah, there's proof right there. Proof that OT Sooper Powerzz do not exist! If they did, Anonymous simply would not be here.

I would like everyone to notice the graph I used as a graphic for the rant. It is a chart of website usage. The red line represents one site for scientology critics. The blue line crawling along the bottom is scientology's own offical website.
Barb is correct; no matter how threatening, violent or in general creepy they are they can no longer prevent people from speaking the truth about them.
I honestly understand the suicides. They have thrown away their lives, given away all their money and abandon their familys to buy into the dream of global domination, "clearing the planet"
There is nothing left for them in life except the distain of the people they were supposed to have loved and the scorn of their own conscience.
35 months ago: Why us?
35 months ago: "Who are the Scientologists? "

Fag-gots, amirite?
35 months ago: Oh dear, both lines are in decline, what could it mean? Oh dear, oh dear!
35 months ago: It means your a massive fag-got terryeo
35 months ago: Who are the Scientologists? well there a bunch of people that are part of a religon that was created by a bad sci/fi author. in my opinion it shouldn't be considered a religon!
35 months ago: Scientology is a philosophy about knowledge, it is an activity of studying or understanding knowledge better and more completely.

The Church says such knowledge includes data about the spirit, about one's own spirit and about other people's spirit. These matters are the very definition of religion. And, additionally. a statement about the Supreme Being is found in the philosophy. Thus, Scientology is a religious philosophy.

On the other hand, it doesn't insist that practitioners believe any portion of it. If you choose to understand it, that's one situation. But if you expect to be whipped into "believing" it, you're going to have to go somewhere else.
35 months ago: The 'Spirit'?
The spirit of the law?
The spirit of lively debate?
The sprirt or St. Louis?

How about the Spirit of Jack, Jim, Smirnoff, and Tito's.

What if you don't expect to be whipped into it and then you are? Plenty of those accusations to investigate.
35 months ago: No terryeo, you got it wrong. Philosophy is free. Scientology is neither.
34 months ago: In the face of fact, you persist in rant. The last 3 months show Scientology.org traffic up 277% http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/scientology.org.

The Scientology philosophy is widely available in many languages, many public libraries. Ron Hubbard is recognized as the most published and most translated author on Earth.

In the face of these, and other, obvious facts, your rant persists. G'wan to sing all night, G'wan to sing all day. Religion is free, don't you know, Ohh, doo dah day!

34 months ago: Religion is free.
Scientology is neither.
34 months ago: Thought is free. Religion is an element of thought and is, therefore, free.

However, when it comes to the physical universe, when it comes to publication costs, buildings and lights, water and telephone, someone has to foot the bill.

If you look closely you'll find some free services, publications on the internet, books in libraries, public events and more. But someone has to foot the bill.

But when it comes to thoughts, hey, what could be more free?

34 months ago: Oh, Denise, get real! My parents belong to a church. It has a half a block of property, and a nice sanctuary. And they sure the hell don't shell out the kind of money Scientology extracts from its victims. And the mother church isn't running around buying up buildings that will then stand empty! And they do CHARITY, can you imagine? People volunteer to help the people you say are downstat and unworthy of assistance.

There are so many huge differences between what real religions do in a community compared to what Scientology pretends to do.

Lets talk about the business aspect Terryeo: A popular novel in paperback is only $5 because they sell millions. A textbook for say, third year physics can run you $50 or even $70 because the publisher must set up his press to print only a few hundred copies. because very few students get high enough to need that textbook. So, if LRH books were as in demand as a Danelle Steel novel they would be $5. If they were as popular as advanced gravonic theory texts they would be much higher. Which is it?

"Building and lights, water and telephone." ?
I can hang out and fill up on classes all year at a community college for like $4,000. They have a gym and a pool.

Where is all the money Terry?
I'm afraid someone is stealing from your church.

If you honestly think scientology is worthwhile you will want to look into this.

Also, look into that local community college you can take a course in epistimology; Thats whay they have been calling the study of knowlage for several hundred years.
