What’s a Sugar Cleanse? Detox or Diet?

Ugh… I love Ellen, but I do NOT agree that a sugar cleanse diet is going to be fun. On her Twitter today, she talked about how she’s going to “cleanse” sugar from her diet. She wants her followers to join in. Yeah. That sounds fun. NO Girl Scout cookies, NO creamer in my coffee. Right.

But hey, what the hell, if Ellen can do it, I should try for a week or so.

So I’ve never tried a master cleanse or advanced cleanse diet before. One of my coworkers tried it and it gave him gross intestinal issues, so I’m a little scared of the “cleanse” idea. But Ellen’s sugar cleanse sounded more like a detox kind of thing, so I went online and searched for it. Apparently, Glamour magazine has a sugar detox diet.

Glamour says that refined sugar is death to humans. It rots your teeth and your bones. Never mind that it makes you fat. They say to toss out your “sugar temptations”… like, the entire contents of your refrigerator. Gotta cleanse that sugar right out of your home! Yeah, I drink maybe one ginger ale a day, and eat peanut M&Ms, so getting rid of my sugary stuff shouldn’t be too hard.

Glamour says the sugar cravings should start in three days and end after two weeks. Ha… and that you’ll have more energy and lose weight.

So, I guess I will check back in with Ellen after the sugar cleanse has finished. If I stick with it.

• Simple carbohydrates are sugars—glucose and fructose from fruits and some vegetables, lactose from milk, sucrose from cane or beet sugar, and others. Table sugar is pure sucrose. Much of the simple carbs we eat are sugars added to processed foods such as sodas, cookies, etc. These added sugars are the main reason why sugar now accounts for 16% of all calories consumed by Americans; 20 years ago, it supplied 11%. Soda alone supplies about one-third of this added sugar.

• Complex carbohydrates, which are chains of simple sugars, consist primarily of starches as well as the fiber that occurs in all plant foods. Starch is the storage form of carbohydrates in plants. Foods rich in complex carbs include grains and grain products (such as bread and pasta), beans, potatoes, corn, and some other vegetables.

A liver cleans, is like a clean out the filter of your body.

A blood cleaning is like changing the oil in your car -- for example.

A colon cleans is like cleaning out the garbage storage unit of your body.

But the best cleansing is an acid food cleansing, which cleans out ALL your body: liver, gallbladder, blood and tissues.

It is called the PH diet or Potential Hydrogen cleansing.

It produces results in your blood chemistry, and in every part of your body.

It will fix all minor illnesses, if done at a 95% alkaline to 5% ACID LEVEL and above.

Once you go clean, you will never feel bad again.

I am 66 and stronger than my 3 kids.

Al the minerals have been stripped from sugar in the refining process so you use up your stores of minerals to metabolize it. In time you become deficient in minerals like chromium which causes problems in blood sugar control. It's really bad news and gets hidden in so many products you wouldn't normally put sugar in like soup.

Getting rid of sugar from your diet or going on a sugar detox as some like to call it is a good thing to do for your health.
