Buddy Who?

Nobody knows who Buddy Roemer is, even though he has been running for president for quite a while. Why is that?

Buddy Roemer has impeccable conservative credentials, and he has far more experience than any other candidate for the office. He has been successful in business, he served four terms in Congress and he was the governor of Louisiana.

When he was governor his state had balanced budgets, he cut unemployment in half, he was one of the first to link teacher pay to performance, and enacted education accountability and he challenged the power of government unions.

If you are a Republican what is there not to like about Buddy Roemer?

The problem is that the corporate media and especially the 1% propaganda machine has suppressed any information about Buddy Roemer, and they are the real ones that determine the presidential candidates.

So why is it that Murdoch and the Koch Brothers and the other billionaires that run the Tea Party have condemned Buddy Roemer to obscurity? They are the power behind all of the presidential debates and they made sure that Gov. Buddy Roemer was not invited to any of them.

The real reason is because Gov. Roemer is the only candidate that is talking about campaign reform. He is the only candidate talking about the political corruption in our political system. He is the only Republican that thinks there is something wrong with the few billionaires determining how the country is run, which candidates succeed, and that all of the Republican policies benefit the 1% and harm the 99%. http://www.forbes.com/sites/johnmcquaid/...

The Republican establishment hates campaign reform. Yesterday the republican House passed a bill that would end any remaining public funding of elections.

The 1% has finally settled on who they want for president. It used to be Romney because he is one of them. Romney is the 1%. But he never caught on. He was too much of a flip flopper, he designed Obamacare, He wasn't a REAL Christian, and the faithful never trusted him.

So the 1% threw him under the bus. On Fox news which can be counted on to treat candidates with kid gloves, and lob nothing but softball questions, actually asked Mitt Romney some hard questions, and Romney who expected puffballs got pissed off. So he is over.

The Tea Party had short term flings with all of their nut jobs, but they all wilted under public scrutiny. The 1% wouldn't mind another malleable Bush light that they could dictate to, but they can't help but say stupid things. So who is left? Santorum may still have a chance. He is owned by big coal so the 1% likes him, but he is plagued with a Google presence that he can't shake. John Huntsman has the most foreign policy experience, but he actually worked for Obama and he is actually rational with scientific facts like evolution and global Warming, so he will never go anywhere.

And that leaves Newt. Newt Gingrich is the ideal 1% candidate, because he is the personification of lobbyists. He will do whatever is necessary to whoever pays him the most money. He has the added bonus of being what Republican Guy Molinary says is pure evil. http://www.silive.com/news/index.ssf/201...

They picked Bush Jr., knowing the Democrats were going to lose with Clinton's recession and all, and they picked Obama knowing the Republicans were going to lose after the Bush unpopular wars dragged on and on. And so far, in the White house, it has been business as usual.

They picked McCain ahead of a field of much stronger candidates, to run against a nobody they had groomed to further their agenda.

Now that it is clear that Obama's policies are working, and that the Republicans policies only benefit the 1% and hurt the 99% they won't really have a chance. Especially since the all of the Republican clowns running are self destructing.

The Republican/1% Propaganda machine is very powerful, but they can only brainwash the boobs that listen to them.

Clinton popular? For passing the NAFTA fiasco, for deregulating the banking industry and leading the world to financial collapse? Clinton's tech bubble had already started leaking before he left office, and the projected surpluses were already drying up. He was robbing the Medicare and Social Security coffers to make his deficit seem to be a surplus. He also dipped into the Federal Employee Retirement System. His "Deficit Reduction Program" added over a trillion dollars to the national debt.

Supreme court picked Bush eh? After a race that was "too close to call"? Hmmm. Same modus operandi as 2008, keep the race tight right up to the wire, with cleverly placed scores and gaffes, ever changing the leader in the polls, right up to the wire.

"Our consideration is limited to the present circumstances, or the problem of equal protection in election processes generally presents many complexities." US Supreme Court decision, 2000 election, Gore vs. Bush

Now what complexities would be limited only to the selection of the intended President?

You may believe that your President was not selected for you, if that is what you want to believe.

During the Bush Gore election Diabold was the company that created the voting machines and software that was proven to be capable of hacking. The president of Diabold said he would do anything he could to help Bush win. There was also a lot of voter suppression when they only had a few voting machines for the black neighborhoods with people waiting all day and really long lines. Still Gore had 500,000 more popular votes than Bush except it was close in Florida because Bush's brother ran that state. So even though there was a lot of cheating going on, Gore still could have pulled it off except the Supreme court, breaking all precedent stopped the counting. http://www.americanpolitics.com/2001gore...

We should have eliminated the electoral college after that fiasco. This year the Republicans have been busy gerrymandering to shift the election their way. They have also been making a lot of voter ID laws which could disenfranchise
2 million people - mostly Democrats.

But despite the stacked deck, Obama might still win because the Republicans are imploding and they can only count on their hard core. Meanwhile the economy is getting better, and consumer confidence will go up. All of the independents are not going to like the republican policies that only help the 1% that hurt the middle class.

You don't think there was voter suppression during the 08 election, with guys holding billy clubs standing outside the polls?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree the electoral college should be abolished. That would do the most toward breaking the monopolies traditionally red and blue states hold.

It would also show that 53% Obama to 47% McCain popular vote, with the 10% to 20% margin you mentioned, as long as the race was monitored carefully through daily, even hourly polling, would not be hard to rig.

I personally think everyone should have to ID themselves in order to vote. Dead people aren't allowed to vote. The Democrat motto, "Vote early, vote often" should be changed to "Get an ID, so you can vote."

The entire voter ID effort has nothing to do with cheating. There hasn't been any evidence of voter ID theft. It is nothing but voter suppression.

Here in Oregon we have had vote by mail since 1995. It has increased participation by 10-30%, and cut the cost considerably. And there have been no complaints of voter fraud. http://archive.fairvote.org/turnout/mail...

Most states have mail in absentee ballots and they are very popular. It would help the nation if everyone went to vote by mail. Texas has found a way to cheat though, by sending in political operatives to "Help" old folks fill out their ballots.

Buddy Roemer said he will finally be allowed to appear in a debate in January. By then Newt will have probably fizzled out as more and more scandals come to light, and as people realize that he received millions of dollars from Freddy and Fannie, (as well as from thousands of other 1% sources.

By then the Republicans will no doubt be so desperate for anyone but Mitt, that they might find Roemer's anti 1% message attractive.

Sometimes even Republicans make sense.
