Just when did the duties of a President of The US include deciding the legitimacy of a news organization? Did I miss a memo or something?
Since when has the job of the press to report only positive stories on the Commander and Chief? When did the role of the press become that of cheerleader?
As for Fox News, are they biased? Oh Yeah, absolutely. Is this news to anyone? No, I think knew that they were biased since day one. Do they have a right to express that bias? Yes, I think that they do. I think that when the first amendment says: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” It is basically spelling out that we get to criticize our government.
Love ‘em or hate ‘em the job of the press is to inform yes, but also to criticize. It seemed Obama understood that when he responded to the nine year old that asked him why some people hated him.
"When you're President of the United States … you've got to deal with all of that," said Obama. "That's exactly right. And, you know, you get some of the credit when things go good, and when things are going tough then, you know, you're going to get some of the blame. And that's part of the job." He also added, "But, you know, I'm a pretty tough guy,"
Then we hear this, "I've got one television station that is entirely devoted to attacking my administration." This is our tough guy? Is it just me or does he sound kind of whiny?
So what is the deal with the change of position? Talk about your flip floppers, Obama was all about being held accountable and addressing disagreements. Now if you do not agree you are not a legitimate organization and other networks should not treat you as one. Is this the leadership the people voted for? I don’t think so.
Let’s just not even pretend it is anything than what it is, the attempt to silence criticism. I for one find that disturbing.
Sometimes your leaders and your party can disappoint you. I was once a Republican, I am still a conservative but I registered independent after the disgusting display of Purple Heart bandages at the 2004 RNC. I no longer wanted to be affiliated with the party I had been a member of for over 20 years. I think that if I were a Democrat I would be disgusted at this petty squabbling about the opinions of a cable news network.
If you disagree with my views please feel free to comment as you have a voice here, and let’s hope the voice of dissention never gets silenced.
