Need a job?
Been out of work for sometime?
Seems like your resume just goes out to oblivion?

How many illegal workers have essentially stolen jobs from truly legal workers?

From a company's perspective, they are in their line of work to make a profit and keep their shareholders satisfied. So it is in their best interest to find a labor source that meets that criteria. One of the aspects that they fail to see is that cheaper does not always bring out the best quality, in fact there's a ton of re-work that is involved and maybe scraping the entire product due to poor workmanship.

So Worker A comes in and presents themselves as a documented citizen authorized to work in the USA and will take on a job at a cheaper rate than Worker B. Some history is in order, Worker A is an illegal immigrant whom has violated several US laws, first of which is being here illegally and most important is identity thief, because they had purchased a supposedly clean Social Security Number down at the local market. Worker B is truly authorized to work in the US because they followed the rules and ultimately will be denied employment because Worker A has come in at a cheaper rate and that will help the company's bottom line when reporting to the shareholders.

When there is money involved, greed seems to take upper hand in the decision making process. There is a government system called E-Verify that levels the playing field so that Worker B's of the world have a chance in providing for themselves fairly. The following came from www.numbersusa.com:

Mandatory Nationwide E-Verify

In June 2011, House Judiciary Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) and Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) both offered mandatory E-Verify bills in the United States Congress. Both bills would require all businesses to begin using E-Verify over a specified period of time. The bills would also reinstate the No-Match letter program along with other provisions that would help identify and fire illegal aliens who currently hold jobs.

Chairman Smith's bill (H.R. 2164) would phase-in E-Verify over a three-year period with 99% of the employers required to use the system within two years. The bill also increases fines and penalties for employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens.

Sen. Grassley's bill (S.1196) would phase-in E-Verify over a one-year period and would also require employers to run all current employees through the system.

Both of these bills are endorsed by NumbersUSA, and H.R. 2164 has the endorsement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other major business groups.

~~~
Given the effectiveness of E-Verify, what is the main reason that States haven't adopted with more open arms?
The answer comes back to GREED, there are companies out there that DO NOT want E-Verify because it hurts THEIR bottom line. Therefore, companies will hire Washington D.C. Lobbyist to push their agenda onto our Representatives that are suppose to be our spokesperson.
When it comes the role of Politicians, everything becomes more convoluted because of ...... GREED. Take a look at POLITICAL PROMISES: A REFERENCE MANUAL, it has some insights on the entire political process and things to watch out for.
What better than an invading horde to make people willing, and even demand that their own freedom to come and go be curtailed? To insist that their lives be put on a microchip and correlated in a database? Bush was talking about the benefits of it years ago.
Achtung!! Are your papers in order?
What a lovely idea. I wonder who else might endorse such an action? Could it be... Possibly.. SATAN!
