"Vivisection: Dissection of a living body; the practice of anatomizing alive, or of experimenting upon living animals, for the purpose of investigating some physiological function or pathological process which cannot well be otherwise determined Vivisection strictly includes only cutting operations; but the term is extended to any physiological experimentation upon living animals, as compression of parts by ligatures, subjection of the creature to special conditions of atmospheric pressure, temperature, and food, exhibition of poisons or other drugs, inoculation of disease, etc. Vivisection in competent and humane hands, under proper and reasonable restrictions, is fruitful of good results to the sciences of physiology and pathology. Some things make me mad, and this is one of them! You probably know by now I don't believe in Evolution, and I don't think we came from apes or any other animal... yet many "scientists" who do don't think twice about using their "cousins" in lab experiments and torture. That is a hell of a way to treat any animal, relative or not! I am all for finding a cure... but as many scientists concur technology is advanced enough with what we understand about humans... why test on animals?

Smoking was once thought to be healthy because smoking-related cancer is hard to reproduce in lab animals; arsenic was a known carcinogen for years, but that fact was only accepted when they found that it produced cancer in animals in the lab; glass fibers and asbestos are hard to produce cancer in lab animals; and the list could go on... our dependence on animal testing left logic behind decades ago! Real science is observable in the subjects it wishes to treat, pseudo-science continues to be funded regardless of favorable results... this is the religion of some modern "science" as seen in the following PDF article dealing with one facet of this mess...

"Vaccinations: The 3,500 Year Old Practice of Egyptian Sorcery
By Robert H. Sorge, N.D., Ph.D.
Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine since 1964
In their conditioning centers called Medical Schools, medical students
are brainwashed into believing that vaccinations immunize us from
catastrophic disease. In fact, it has been one of the tenets of the church of
orthodox drug medicine for over 200 years.
The vaccination doctrine has been entrenched for so long in the
church that daring to question its validity, practice safety or efficacy is
considered heresy and strictly forbidden, an ex-communicable offense
tantamount to questioning the priest on the validity of holy water."

Maybe a closer look at the oath Medical Doctors are sworn to uphold will give us a better understanding of why our "modern" medical professionals look like and differ little from well-dressed witch doctors! The original Hippocratic Oath has been changed, though not "Christian", this oath's principles are founded on certain morals and ethics...

"I swear by Apollo, the healer, Asclepius, Hygieia, and Panacea, and I take to witness all the gods, all the goddesses, to keep according to my ability and my judgment, the following Oath and agreement:
To consider dear to me, as my parents, him who taught me this art; to live in common with him and, if necessary, to share my goods with him; To look upon his children as my own brothers, to teach them this art.
I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment and never do harm to anyone.
I will not give a lethal drug to anyone if I am asked, nor will I advise such a plan; and similarly I will not give a woman a pessary to cause an abortion.
But I will preserve the purity of my life and my arts.
I will not cut for stone, even for patients in whom the disease is manifest; I will leave this operation to be performed by practitioners, specialists in this art.
In every house where I come I will enter only for the good of my patients, keeping myself far from all intentional ill-doing and all seduction and especially from the pleasures of love with women or with men, be they free or slaves.
All that may come to my knowledge in the exercise of my profession or in daily commerce with men, which ought not to be spread abroad, I will keep secret and will never reveal.
If I keep this oath faithfully, may I enjoy my life and practice my art, respected by all men and in all times; but if I swerve from it or violate it, may the reverse be my lot."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippocratic...

...a couple of major things have been taken out or changed in the modern version, and other things have been added that really disgraces the original intent and context of the Hippocratic Oath. Parts of the oath like "never do harm to anyone"; "I will not give a woman a pessary to cause an abortion"; "keeping myself far from all intentional ill-doing and all seduction" ...has been replaced with... "I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk"; "it may also be within my power to take a life" ... adherence to the medical "religion" many times outweighs loyalty to humanity and the right to life.

"Vivisection / Animal Experimentation: Sadistic Scandal
Estimates of the number of animals tortured and killed annually in U.S. laboratories diverge widely - from 17 to 70 million animals."

Regardless of the so-called "ground" that may be lost in taking up the cause of the ethical treatment of animals, after watching the videos on this subject change cannot happen too soon. I love animals and have never condoned their mistreatment and torture... this goes doubly for my fellow humans. The price for "medication" is too high if it means the torture of animals... it has been proven unnecessary and irrelevant when applying the same scenarios to humans. It isn't too hard to imagine that these witch-doctors will use similar liberty on humans that are deemed "viable for testing" ...don't think that it isn't already happening... that is why they call it "MEDICAL PRACTICE!"

IF you had any question what lengths psycho "scientists" would go to get funded by Pharmaceutical, Cosmetic, Military or Food companies... be assured there is NO LIMIT!

ADVERSE REACTIONS - humans injured by animal tests...

* According to a study in leading US medical journal Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), the US sees 106,000 deaths annually from medications correctly prescribed and correctly taken by patients. That's about 290 every day, or one every five minutes. [JAMA 14/4/1998]

* The same study also considered patients who were so badly injured by medications that they needed hospital treatment. These were calculated to be 2,250,000 hospital admissions each year. That's over 6,000 every day, or one every 14 seconds.

* In the UK, it has been estimated by the British Medical Journal that 10,000 people are killed every year by medical drugs. That's 27 every day, or one every 53 minutes. BMJ 2004;329:15-19 (3 July)

In some of the poorer nations they eat animals in the west we wouldnt even dream of aswell as testing them for products.
In the olden day medicine must of come on leaps and bounds due to testing on animals and helped alot of people.
There needs to be a world standard so that if animals are going to be tested on it can only be by governments not private corporations.
When private corporation do things, then welfare and conditions go out the window to save costs and make the whole process cheaper affecting the life of the said animal.
Some of the cosmetics made must of enhanced the lives of alot of how you say ugly women by covering them up.
Allowing them to be normal to some degree.
i think testing for cures to disease is needed but to make a woman look pretty is wrong.
8 months ago: Felix,

Killing an animal is one thing... but keeping them alive (just barely) and operating on them without sedative; or poisoning them to see their reaction; or burning their skin off to see how long a chemical takes to act... is evil.

All this "testing" on animals has little to do with finding a cure for any human disease, it has been proven that humans are too different to show consistent reactions to disease and treatment. Thalidomide caused gross defects in humans, but failed to produce any defects in lab animals... so they kept using this drug on humans without regard to the obvious repercussions.

8 months ago: Vivisection, a subject close to my heart.

I'm all for bringing an end to animal testing. I believe we should go back to testing on humans, I mean after all the prisons are full, the streets are rife with worthless life that could be used to further scientific theory.

Soon with the economy moving in the direction it is people will be lining up to take jobs as test subjects as long as it pays over 200 a week. research labs will be able to advertise for vivisection subjects and thousands will show, thousands.

Evil is as Evil does. We did this to humans for nearly a thousand years only stopping a scant 250-300 years ago. Animals are put on those tables in order to save human discomfort and while it is certainly distasteful in some cases it is necessary. Just not many.
8 months ago: Slim,

What good is it to test on animals when the things they are testing react differently to humans? And now with the advancement in technology we understand much more than we have years ago, making Vivisection a vehicle for time-travel back to the dark ages.
8 months ago: Truth, you think Slim is not testing on humans every time he concocts a new recipe and serves it without warning.

I have lost alot of good friends in this battle.
One of my friends had botox injected in him just to see what his lips would look like.
His lips were like 2 hot air ballons and he couldnt lick his nuts again.
But joking aside this is a serious post close to my heart and this whole thing should be banned worldwide.
But there are countries like Felix's out there and they thrive on causing harm to innocent things.
