"Bahati's reasoning for introducing the bill alternated between protecting children from sexual predators, eradicating Uganda of homosexuality, and some combination of the two. He claimed to have evidence documenting the homosexual recruitment of children, particularly in same sex schools and churches, and said the bill's provisions on reporting suspected homosexuality specifically target school masters and religious leaders."
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/us-embas..."As an American pastor," Warren said in his statement, "it is not my role to interfere with the politics of other nations, but it is my role to speak out on moral issues." He told the Ugandan pastors that the bill was "unjust, extreme and un-Christian toward homosexuals."

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/us-embas...The Ugandan "bill" in question proposes severe penalty for "the homosexual recruitment of children" and protection of "minors from sexual predators" ...this bill however worded or applied has been democratically adopted, and it would seem that the West would have it both ways (democratic and non) in issues of this nature. I too agree, that it seems the penalties are severe and not as North Americans would have it... but since when are every detail of our way of life and laws, subject to foreign police or edict? Where is the line crossed between democracy and dictatorship... furthermore who gets to decide?
I am featuring a couple of videos that in Uganda would probably constitute "the homosexual recruitment of children" in a public school setting. I am not responsible for the title of the videos or their content and application... I will be very clear in my opinion apart from these references. They are listed below, and are in the video section:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16Ed1kb8B...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKQXd0MpZ...I find it strange that if our society "democratically" voted on issues of homosexual education in the public schools, all such material may well be thrown out. Also, being that a small percentage of the population is homosexual, and it would be a give-in that their agenda would have little weight if it wasn't for undemocratic actions of governing authorities. It would take a special indoctrination of each new-generation potential, in order to have a "democratic" vote on such issues to the con or pro... yet it too would not be without cohorsion. This is where "morals and beliefs" come into play... whether we like it or not it is the fabric of our societies.
Would our societies allow the celebration of "Strait Pride" or have a special holiday called "Strait Day" instituted in the public schools? Would they not be cursed as homophobic and intolerant demonstrations of hate? Would the heterosexual community be applauded for advertisement and the protection of their choice and orientation? or would they be banned from media and society as bigots and racist? Could a heterosexual be allowed to march "strait" up the street without jeers?
Not bloody likely! Yet we, and our children are forcibly "educated" and indoctrinated by a minority movement, that over-runs the democratic and constitutional rights of others. If I give homosexuals the freedom to believe and live as they choose...
all I ask is that they allow me and mine to do the same.
The proverbial "inch" given in liberty, has now become seemingly a "mile" in slavery to an agenda... that would have us all homosexual and trans-gendered. I don't bash anyone for their choices, I just desire the freedom to make my own choices... and allow my children to do the same. It just seems the media is flooded with the prevailing wind of orientation rather than real education. What I mean by that is... schools should be a place for learning skills to help them survive and advance, and not used as a forum for social engineering. Wake up! The separation of Church and State has long since been abolished in certain areas... accommodating the social-agenda's "church" and politics.
Now Rick Warren is quoted as saying something to the effect that Uganda's laws are "unchristian" ...my question is how many American or Canadian laws are "unchristian?" Is he protesting them too? Or is this a political feather he desires in his cap to further his influence... we may never know. What we do know is laws here and there are democratically established and due process must be honored. I would like to do away with abortion laws too, but there is a process. I can't believe the gall of the West interfering in matters of other sovereign nations, when their own back-yard is in such a mess... this is something that simply wouldn't be tolerated if the shoe was on the other foot.
I believe the Bible, but I'm not in your school forcing it on your kids...
IF you don't believe the Bible... don't force that on mine.
