Two US Navy ships collided in the Mideast in the Strait of Hormuz between Iran and the Arabian peninsula. The 2 ships were a nuclear submarine and an amphibious ship. Both ships were heading into port for repairs and evaluations, hopefully to their sonar and radar equipment, as crashing with another of your own is never a good thing.
Luckily, the nuclear reactor was okay, I can only imagine how bad that could have been. The amphibious ships fuel tanks were ruptured though, spilling 25,000 gallons of diesel fuel into the strait.
It doesn't appear that there was any other foul play other than two ships poorly steered, but it of course involves the seas, and therefore fits under the beware category. Hopefully the US Navy will right everything in this situation before something even more embarrassing happens, with scary results.
