OK I am Canadian, so let's start with something we know about... HOCKEY! It used to be that one could sit down and enjoy a good fight... er-game, but this is why us hardened Hockey buffs switched to the UFC.... finger biting. That's right FINGER BITING! What is next hair pulling, scratching eyes and wedgies?? Come on! Give us a break!
"The first period of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final Game 1 between the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks was a battle, no doubt leaving the players feeling drained. So Alex Burrows decided to have a little snack to boost his energy at the end of the period … unfortunately, Bruins center Patrice Bergeron(notes) was the meal..."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxmZWIX02...This is another reason people are pumped as Canadians to welcome the fight between UFC Welterweight Champion George St-Pierre and Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz. Both the top in their class, this fight is the one I believe will push the "Rush" GSP out of his "safe-zone" and scrap like he knows how. We haven't seen a match like this before and finally the fans will get what they've paid for.
Diaz is just the guy to take the fight to St-Pierre... there is no way these guys are going to be able to keep it civil. Diaz has something to prove, and won't let GSP rest until he gets it! I admit it seems GSP was playing it safe by being very tactical, and then apologizing to his fans for the non-aggressive performance... well if GSP thinks he can play it safe with this guy, he may be sadly mistaken. IF there was a guy that will test UFC Welterweight Champion George St-Pierre... Nick Diaz is the guy!
What Does GSP vs. Diaz Mean For Strikeforce's Future?
http://www.culturebully.com/georges-st-p...Don't get me wrong, I think that George St-Pierre will beat Nick Diaz... but it won't be easy! There will be no hair pulling, finger biting, eye gouging... well maybe some eye gouging, but no sissy stuff! All these two guys need are hockey sticks to make it all-out Canadian... but seeing as this fight takes place in the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada... the only ice visible will be in the sodas!
That being said, there are many promo vids out boasting a Diaz victory... my take on that is... GSP is the surgeon... and Diaz will be the patient! The world has yet to see GSP all-out fight, he is careful and precisioned... IF GSP "lost it" ...Diaz gets hurt. George St-Pierre is no "gumby" bar-room brawler, like some that have faced Diaz...
Diaz has definitely "bitten" off more than he can "chew" this time.
