What recalls?
Looks like the Japanese auto industry wants to get back in the game. The Toyota Motor Corp. has announced a slew of new incentives for 2010 Toyotas to get back a slice of their American market share.
The new Toyota incentives came just as Ford announced a stellar sales month.
Ford's February sales rocketed 43%, helping it to surpass General Motors Co. as the largest U.S. automaker for the month.General Motor Co. also posted gains, but Toyota Motor Corp. said its sales plunged almost 9%, hurt by a series of recalls and federal investigations into safety defects.
Details have yet to be announced, but the March 2010 Toyota incentives should include:
- Zero-percent financing for 60 months on new 2010 models, including Camry and Corolla.
- A complimentary two-year "Toyota Auto Care Premium Package," which includes oil changes and other maintenance.
- Cash rebates of $500 - $3,000.
The March 2010 Toyota incentives are clearly a PR move, but the average car buyer wins in the end. What do you think? Will people be lured back to Toyota by incentives in March 2010, or has the brand been irreversibly damaged?
