Three Pittsburgh Police Officers

The 3 Policemen killed when responding to a domestic dispute in Pittsburgh is tragic. The first two responded to the domestic dispute call, the third was off duty and responded to the first two being shot, in an attempt to help his buddies (bad idea). Whether or not the first two should have been better prepared for the situation is open to debate and there are not enough details available to form an opinion, but the third Policeman was aware of the situation and should not have proceeded as he did. I once had five police show up at my home after a "domestic dispute". The one who came to the door stuck a gun in my face and I was searched twice. My soon to be ex-wife wasn't even home, she had called them "crying wolf" from another location. She did the same thing again later and only two Officers responded that time, they were very nice to me and even asked "aren't you divorced yet?" and offered their sympathy for my situation, but they have to respond to every call. They knew by then she was a nut (I sure can pick'em). Perhaps some Women crying wolf has lulled Officers into thinking that maybe it's just a vindictive female taking revenge, who knows. That obviously wasn't the case in Pittsburgh. But the shooter probably had a record, if they checked beforehand, which might have better prepared them for the reception they received. I on the other hand, had no record except for moving violations and hadn't had one of those in years. So the response I received the first time is the one they should have used in Pittsburgh. But regardless of the Officers response, it is a tragedy for three officers to die as they did. I have great respect for Police and members of the Armed Service (until they convince me otherwise), I would not want their job. That said, they know when they take the job that it is dangerous. We have a Volunteer Army, unlike during the Vietnam War and Law Enforcement choose their jobs also, no one is holding a gun to their head when they apply. Only those with the proper mental attitude, in excellent physical condition, with high aptitude, who are gifted with hand eye coordination and the intelligence to execute the career in the most serious manner should be undertaking it, you can play guitar and sing in a band to pull chicks and it's not nearly as dangerous. Unfortunately, there are many wannabe's with Napoleon complex's who undertake it for all the wrong reasons.

If you're going to be a Soldier or Policeman, there's high probability that you might have to shoot someone or possibly be shot. It goes with the job.

The World needs garbage men too and they probably make better money, but of course that doesn't pull the chicks or impress quite as much at the class reunion. Taking a job for the wrong reasons always leads to disaster in one way or another. In their case, it's an unforgiving disaster waiting to happen. So choose well Grasshopper.

But on a more relevant note, i agree that paying them more attracts people who don't actually do it for the job, but the money. Also the Napoleon complex is dead-on.
