Is reincarnation possible?
One family in Louisiana believes it is. The Leiningers claim that their son, James, is a reincarnated WWII fighter pilot.
James is now 11, and his parents claim that he began experiencing the memories of James McCready Huston, a 21-year-old WWII fighter pilot, when he was 2 years old.
In case you’re not familiar with eschatology, reincarnation is the belief that when one dies, one's physical body decomposes, but something of oneself is reborn in another physical body.
The Leiningers have written a book on James’ experiences, titled “Soul Survivor: The Reincarnation of a World War II Fighter Pilot.” The family was on “Good Morning, America” this morning to talk about their experiences.
The “reincarnated WWII fighter pilot” story really made me think, so I looked up what the skeptics are saying about the Leiningers.
James claims that he first started having flashback memories after he visited the Kavanaugh Flight Museum in Dallas, Texas. From a skeptic’s point of view, James could have seen and consciously or unconsciously assimilated information about WWII, then dreamed it. There is a lot more information at the blog Skeptico (first link).
The concept is interesting, but I believe there will never be any real proof of reincarnation. There are many reincarnation stories online, but I think that’s all that they are: stories.
What do you think? Could a reincarnated WWII fighter pilot be in an 11-year-old’s body?
