Ok, many people now think Freddy is a child molester. 100% wrong. If you actually watched the movies you'd know that:
Freddy got his daughter taken away from him because he killed his wife and they didn't think it was safe for her to be around him. Freddy got very angry about that and decided to take everyone else's children by killing them while driving around in an ice cream truck. See, he'd go around like an ice cream man but kidnap the childern, take them back to his hide out and kill them, not molest because obviously killing is more effective into the minds of a parent. So they caught him and took him into court, there someone signed in the wrong place on the papers and he was set free. The parents of all the dead children began to get extremely mad so they tracked down his hide out and burned it down while he was inside. While he was burning these three demons came and promised him that he could live forever inside dreams, of course he accepted and sometime later he started killing again, but in a way where it was much harder to catch and kill him.
So you see, if you actually watch the movies you'd know that Freddy Krueger is a child murderer NOT A CHILD MOLESTER. Thank you Michael Bay for ruining yet another thing. >:l Go die please, Mr. Bay.

Thanks for the background about Freddy though. Now I have a bit of understanding about the character without having to suffer through the movie.

I think it is not good for people to get scared about things that obviously can't exist. What is the social relevance of films like this.

I am usually against violence in films too, but was a big fan of samurai films which have people getting killed but there was a definite sense of morality and Bushido.

With Clockwork Orange besides it being stylistically good there was the anti violent theme but more importantly the anti establishment anti brainwashing theme.

Sci Fi and Fantasy movies are good for stretching the mind and expanding the imagination.

What is the social relevance of horror and slasher movies? What earthly good are they? They only put a cloud on the mind and the fear and evil scar the soul.

There are some people you like watching it cause they like being scared or just have nothing else to do, I watch them because my parents were horror fans when they were teens and I think it just crossed over to me. Freddy movies aren't really that scary anymore, I find them more as a comedy. Hey, I think movies from 60s-70s are better then what we have now, which is why I refuse to see any new-age horror movie at anytime unless it's my own or my cousin's cause we actually get what truely scares people...nothing is scarier then something.

M Night Shyamalan was good at getting a lot of scare out of nothing too, but then what do I know, I liked the Last Airbender.
