I know this makes me seem like a raving paranoid so don't read it if you're confident that the bailout fixed all the boo-boos...
What the heck is going on with the economy??? All I see on TV is talking heads saying that is seems to be stabilizing, then the next day news is bad and they mention that 500,000 jobs were lost in December. 500,000??? Lost on the month of Christmas??? That doesn't even take into account part-timers being cut (like high school and college kids). Plus no one is doing investigative work to see what these PRIVATE CORPORATIONS are doing with their bailout money!!! I want to know every little detail. It feels like the media is just being told to look positive and distract us with things like the war in Gaza (that's new news???). I can not wait until the inauguration. Then Barack can finally be totally in charge. He really has no power yet and Bush is just twiddling his thumbs acting like the past 8 years went fine. I would give my pinky to hear Bush apologize for everything his administration screwed up on, purposely or otherwise. It'll never happen. Bush'll probably write some long-as-Hell book explaining everything positive he did (nothing but he'll come up with six-hundred pages of it) and making every screw-up look like it was because the Democrats would never go along with him, or because they did go along with him, somehow making it their fault. I'm hearing that the Florida budget is going to be like 10% short this year. They are going to cut 10% of programs. That will be disastrous. Florida public-schools are already so overcrowded and underfunded. Plus many of the "local" public-servants are being paid way too much. Everyone who does not work for some sector of either Federal, State, or Local Government is getting screwed. We have no idea what's happening. Does anyone really know why gas is the cheapest it has been in years??? I just hear talk about cheaper barrels. Why??? So it can spike to 5 or 10 bucks a gallon just out of the blue one day??? All of my customers at the restaurant (especially the rich ones) seem on edge. The middle-class ones sometimes have this way about them like they shouldn't even be eating at a restaurant. Maybe they shouldn't. I don't know. I do know that business seems down at the restaurant compared to last year and I live on such an insulated wealthy, resort island that this should not be the case. I am saving every penny I can and I think everyone should be because I think we have not even come close to hitting the bottom. Plus, how would we have any idea when the bottom is just going to drop completely out and leave everyone in an economic hurricane of destruction??? I just want some answers so thank God the inauguration is soon. But the media needs to start telling it how it is. I read that drug and alcohol use is spiking too. Everything seems to be negative. I just want to hear some good news or be told the damn truth if we're headed towards economic oblivion. I feel like the country is teetering on a cliff. I hope we can pull ourselves up, but be prepared if we fall off of that metaphorical cliff into all-out chaos.
