One of the best times in my life was when I went whale watching. Seeing these magnificent creatures, is etched in my memory for ever. Their lulling movements as they glide through the oceans. The thrill of seeing one for the first time as it rises to the surface.
I cannot even imagine these giant gentle creatures of the sea being hunted down. The thought of it sickens me. The suffering that animals endure at the hands of humans. The cries of the whales echoing in the air.
In a recent story on BBC News, they spoke of Australia threatening to take Japan to the International Court of Justice, if it does not stop whale hunting.
It appears that Japan continues to whale hunt under the auspices of a research program. The Japanese program aim for a catch of 1,000 whales per year.
Yet what evidence do they have of any research? What are they learning? Why the need to kill? Why are they allowed to get away with committing such a horrendous act?
