I was pleasantly surprised by The Book of Eli. I wasn't overly impressed with the trailers for this movie, but being a big Denzel fan, I had to see it anyway. Denzel Washington's portrayal of a post-apocalypse survivor with a mission was understated and dead on. This is a guy you are immediately drawn to and want to know more about. The bleak, ruined landscape still revealed moments of stunning beauty that reminded me of the Wastelands I have spent hours walking in Fallout 3. In fact, much of this movie was like []e to life, most notably a small-town saloon where the badasses hang out that was exactly what I had pictured in my mind. All of the main characters were well cast and the story line was engaging. I didn't see the final plot twist coming at all. The movie has a very satisfying ending that really makes you think. I will definitely be adding this one to my personal video collection.
