Please pass this blog on to every Conservative friend you have. Ask them to read it, take notes and then quiz them on the answers to ensure that they actually read it.

This blog is brought to you by the Letter "G" and the number 3. (This should entice your conservative friends, by giving them the impression that this blog is about Sesame Street)

I intend to address the following talking points in this short essay:
• The President of the United States has not talked to British Petroleum, CEO Tony Hayward, therefore he "does not give a damn" about the Gulf or the oil spill.
• The President of the United States "took almost two weeks" to acknowledge the oil spill and do something about it.
• The President of the United States "has not done a darn thing in 51 days" to control the oil spill in the Gulf.
• The President of the United States needs to show more aggression, more feeling, more compassion and more love for this crisis in the Gulf.
• The President of the United States looked fake when he showed more aggression, more feeling, more compassion and more love for the crisis in the Gulf.
• Sara Palin is The Litmus Test for all Conservatives who seek office in the United States.

Issue Number 1: Unbeknown to many on the political right, the President of the United States is actually an "administration". During the waning years of the Bush Administration, we heard a lot of "serve at the pleasure of the president." What does that mean? It means that certain members of the administration actually have the authority to represent the President in meetings, gatherings, press conferences and the likes. Ergo, if a representative of the administration speaks with a person, and that representative reports directly to the president, then it would probably be redundant for the president to go back to that person and say, "hey, I know you spoke to my Rear Admiral and told them that you were gonna try to cap the well…..but were you serious?"

The President does not have to actually speak with the CEO to demonstrate his sincerity to cleaning up the Gulf. And adding the "talking point" that he just doesn't care because he hasn't picked up the phone to call Hayward is plain stupid and irresponsible.

Issue Number 2: A common "talking point" now-a-days is the assertion that President Obama dragged his feet for two or three weeks on this oil issue. Have you read the White House daily reports? http://bit.ly/aYOIA3

Issue Number 3: In the national press conference given by the President two weeks ago, he explicitly advised that all actions carried out in the Gulf (since and hence) have been under the advisement of the White House and will continue to be at the direction of the White House. Therefore, the recent cutting of the pipe, redirecting of the line and capping of the well are actions that the President is responsible for. And the fact that the recent efforts are now collecting thousands of barrels per day (yes there is tremendous room for improvement) should be celebrated and not knit-picked.
Issues 4 and 5: Have you actually watched the interview with Matt Lauer? Or have you watched the spliced snippets that have been provided to you on Fox News. Because if that is what you are referring to when you claim that President Obama is a "loose, unpresidential, urban, angry-black-man" then I can see where you might get that idea. But if you care to watch the full interview and see the lead in questions that Matt Lauer asked then check this out: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/vp/...

Or if you just care to watch the answer of the day and the lead in, then check this one out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtFj7I9u2...

If you take the time to review the whole 12 minute interview then you will see that President Obama was being quite open and up front with his answers to the Conservative Punditry.

Issue Number 6: OMG, How did you know?!
Palin-Beck 2012? You Betcha. Those minions (Fiorina, Whitman and Haley) didn't stand a chance until Sarah "the Barracuda" got behind them.

He was letting it ride, letting the perpetrators of the disaster run their own show, knowing full well it was the responsibility of the US Government, whose resources make BP's look like Saturday night Bingo. Only when he thought some grandstanding would garner him some popularity points did he acknowledge the President's legal role in the containment. After the economic devastation of the South, I'm sure they will figure out some neat way to cap it. After all, they couldn't bring the South down with the banking crisis, the housing bubble bursting, or the high unemployment. They had to do it another way.

It is strangely reminiscent of the Katrina, and how Bush failed so miserably by not having a plan in place to deal with an entire city being submerged for days, and then deliberately withholding aid to try to drive black people out of the city. Wink.

He mistakenly assumed that people were competent in their jobs, but he should have known that all of the Bush appointees were dedicated to anti regulation. Of course the Congress holding up all of Obama's apointees didn't help.

He also placed too much faith in BP and assumed that their contingency plans would work and weren't total garbage. Since the MMS had become dependent on the corporations they thought there was no need to duplicate emergency cleanup and rescue equipment and technology since they were assured that BP could handle everything.

Well now we know that we can't trust the Free Market or the Corporations to do anything to protect the public. There is no money in it so that means that the government is the only hope of the helpless.

It is interesting that the evil government, small or no government crowd, always accuses the government of not doing enough or not being big enough when there is a disaster.

This is a very well thought out and rational analysis using facts to counter hysteria. Unfortunately the Obama haters will not allow facts to cloud their irrational hatred of Obama or the Democrats.

It's okay to excuse your neighbor who is a failure because "he is nice to a fault", but that won't work for the President. For whatever reasons he failed, he still failed. Unless, like I brought up before, it isn't a failure at all.

As far as the right pointing out Obama's perfect ineptitude in handling this crisis, which he is required to do by Federal Law, as I pointed out, it's no different than the left blaming the aftermath of Katrina on Bush and his lack of having a contingency plan in place. T.i.t for t.a.t.

You guys beat everything, you know it?

If this had happened while Bush was president, you'd be doing backflips and needing to wear diapers.

Grow up!

On one hand you say, "yeah well Bush ain't in office anymore, it's President Obama's problem." or "stop blaming Bush"
But then on the other hand, you complain "if this happened when Bush was in office you'd be doing backflips"
ANYBODY who compares the two administrations is a "frickin fool" there is only ONE argument that should be allowed between the two presidents.
BUSH WAS CRITICIZED BECAUSE OF HIS FACTUAL INADEQUECIES fro
about the middle of his term forward, and the BS elections that he was part of twice.
President Obama is mostly criticized because of CONTRIVED CONTROVERSIES in an attempt to bring down the administration. This is obviously evident in the continuously negative news cycles after EVERYTHING President Obama does, while over the past 18 months, conservatives have yet to run a positive news cycle for ANYTHING the Obama Administration has done.
It's cool that the right wing soooo hates President Obama because I have never seen an authoritative figure react so resiliently to opposition and criticism.
But you gotta make up your mind: Are Bush Comparisons in Play or Not? (stand by for a blog with that title)
Cause we'd love to keep the comparison in play, it's like comparing apples and airplanes.

23 months ago: Well of course the comparisons are in play. This particular case in point is one in which Bush would have shone, with his connections to Big Oil and a vastly superior knowledge of the oil business.

What the right is saying is, don't blame Obama's inadequacies on Bush, or anyone else. They belong to Obama.

Obama's inadequacies are not contrived, from his automatically taking the black professor's side and blaming the cops, all the way up to his inadequate handling of the oil spill.

Obama resilient to opposition and criticism? Google up "Obama + mocks"

So yes, definitely keep up the Bush/Obama comparisons. Just don't blame what Obama doesn't do right on Bush. It's more like comparing apples and pyrite.
23 months ago: PYRITE? Not likely unless we can find a new term. Such as Obamrite or Rhamrite or Ayerrite or Gibbrite or who was that othe one?

Axelrite...

Meaning "Fools Black Gold". Yeah they all bought into it and now want use to pay their bill.
