"Take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented" (Elie Wiesel). In other words: without ethical resistance stupidity and evil can crash anything and that's what happen every day in contemporary society.

26 months ago: Red State Guy: You're absolutely right, "neutrality" is the stance of moderate liberals, who don't want to take a side because they would risk offending some group or another.

But what are the sides we have the option of taking? Is it really Liberal vs. Conservative?

Aren't these two supposed "sides" really just a way of splitting the lower and middle classes? Whichever side you pick, Democrat or Republican, the machine functions as it always had, enriching the Ruling Elite.

There must be REAL sides to be picked in this battle (and it is a battle).

I think the formulation of Bernadine Dohrn still holds, although the terms have changed since the 60's: "Either be on the side of the oppressed, or be on the side of the oppressors."

So yeah, Obama sucks, but is it because he is personally evil, or because the system is rigged?
