Before human civilization had advanced, humans wandered in bands or groups looking for food and shelter. That was the only way humans could survive. Individuals would not survive.

As long as individuals were a part of the group or the band, they could stay alive.

Contributors stayed in the band.

Once a human stopped contributing to the band, they were left behind. That rejected human became prey and lasted less than 24 hours before they were eaten.

Some of us contributed by finding food, keeping everyone sheltered, protecting the band, etc.

Others did not contribute. They tagged along. As long as they were perceived as "important" to the band, they stayed alive.

It became engrained into those peoples' DNA to always be IMPORTANT so they could survive.

This engrained desire to be important is now a compulsion for liberals. The liberals latch on to a cause....like.... Global Cooling, and have a compulsion to lead or push their cause onto others.

With a cause, no matter how absurd and intellectually vacant, the liberal feels IMPORTANT........so they can survive.

All you liberals are just tag alongs.

12 months ago: Tell you what Pluto. You just come and walk behind me for 60 or so hours next week. I won't ask you to lift a finger. Just be my shadow. You think you can do that task? Most of you would not last more that 4 hours let alone 2 days. Get off that line of liberals work harder than republicans.

Although you might have a point. They do tend to work harder at getting others to do their work.
13 months ago: The difference is between being important and acting important. liberal minds tend to work for the greater good while conservatives simply lament that fact that things have changed to the point where god forbid they lift their hand to help their fellow man.

While this shows up many times in literature the most compelling of those may be the story of mutiny on the bounty. Blithe was a backward looking conservative bent on running his ship the Bounty in the archaic fashion. Bullying his men into subservience.

Christian on the other hand was a forward thinking liberal who realized the crew could not survive under Blithe's iron fist. And he worked to first make some sort of accommodation between blithe and the crew before throwing up his hands and allowing the crew to mutiny.

You conservatives are nothing but despotic overlord wannabes bent on persevering the status qua, your personal fortunes, and many cases the racial divide.

Remember the Nazi's were basically conservatives, As are the governments of nearly all the middle eastern countries, North Korea, China and much of Japan. and while our government pays lips service to the need for change here at home we still allow the wealthy to control the poor.

Conservatives generally outstrip liberals in personal charitable donations of time and resources. That is because of the mindset differences. The conservative generally takes it upon himself to give, and the liberal generally takes it upon others to give, as in the phrase, "Somebody needs to do something to help the needy." They then set about passing laws so that everyone gives, whether it is in their heart to give, or not.

Liberals tend to work for what they consider the greater good, as long as it doesn't hit them in the pocketbook too hard. And by doing for the "greater good", they have created a whole new class of people enslaved to the new system supposedly put into place to the very ones they are enslaving.

12 months ago: Box... Conservatives buy their way. We need jobs. I don't see taking away any good things that have been placed to secure society such as, education, social security, medicare on and on.
I see what you are saying and where you are going. Most Liberals that tend to work for the greater good have been rich anyway. Both conservatives and liberals worry about their pockets. Look at the devastation we have from natural causes. How much can this Government handle. Now what. Who is going to pay for this? Looks like we are beaten down from every angle.

It ain't supposed to be easy. We're ALL supposed to be beaten down from every angle. That's the way it is here. Period.

If you react correctly, you get to move on to a better place.

and I am a conservative, and I don't have the ability to buy my way out of a wet paper bag.

Pick yourself up, and FORGET about the Government helping you. It is your life. Nobody else's.

Just read stories like this one concerning the latest tornado destruction and you will see the future of America if the people get big government out of their day to day lives, and depend on each other instead of Big Brother.
It's a gigantic contrast to the ****ing and moaning that the government dependent people of New Orleans did after Katrina. Both epic disasters, very different attitudes afterward.

12 months ago: redstateguy.....well said. Okay, I'm getting beaten up today. All in fun. But I don't think you got it right with me. I get what you are saying, and it wasn't intended for Conservatives or in anyway to offend you. It was intended for the actions of our Government officials who never help anyone. Red, it isn't the way it should be. Life is about choices, and you make your own luck. Government doesn't have to take more and more from the people that don't have it to give.
At this time, I have everything I need...food on the table, a good place to live, and happy with family and friends. I don't think anything could get me down. Never ever did. I don't remember one day. I really love my life. What made you think I wanted something from the Government. I worry about those who can't get back up and kids that can't be fed because of how America has changed. Those who really work for it and are educated are being stripped to losing everything. Many people can't handle that, but you know that already.

12 months ago: Yes, Box, I realize that.
On one hand Goverment officials get paid a lot of money to work for the people, not against. Why do we have them at all? At this time, I don't even think we need them. They are useless. America gives help to many other Countries that have suffered disaster, but we seem to come last. Disaster takes its toll. I can't believe the people will handle it on their own without assistance from Government if it is a National Disaster. Then you have many States that have been hit hard that have always been impoverished. That doesn't mean that they shouldn't get help. Many of the people, never got a chance so how can they help themselves. It's a vicious cycle.

You are rewriting history. NAZI's were socialists. Sorry.

Respecting the mutiny on the BOUNTY, you're making things up.

13 months ago: Slim...I don't know anymore what you guys are saying. You either are for something or you're not. Who knows? I'm still trying to figure out the first one you wrote. Maybe the liberals latch onto a cause because they know when it is time to fight back or be swallowed up when things go too far. Who really wants to be important when you are forced into action because no one else fights back. It isn't very pleasant and takes up a lot of time? I just think liberals are very passionate about their Country while those other guys are pretty cold. Slim, I do like the last comment you wrote because it sounds right to me. Sunny
13 months ago: This is where I believe your having trouble, Complicated issues require complicated opinions. It really is more then "You are either against something or you're not." Most simply screw on their hats and point in the direction they have been taught, others question everything and refuse to make any concessions to general common sense.

There is no black and white. Only a multitude of grays that cloud the mental process. Arguments can of course be made for each side. You have to decide for yourself which arguments are designed to lead you to enlightenment and which are designed to simply coerce you into agreement.

Sticking to your guns in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary is what we as a country need to avoid. It is no sin to change your mind. Even if they want to call you a flip flopper.

12 months ago: Sorry Slim (By the way, I thought I was being funny) I go by life experience. I've seen a lot and know a lot. My family has direct political envolvement from the time they came over to this Country. I don't think the issues are complicated at all. It isn't black or white, and it is gray as you say it is. There still has to be a solution one way or the other. Whichever way people find a solution that is for the good of everyone is the way it has to be worked out. So far, nobody came up with anything. So far I find myself more open-minded because I don't stick to my guns to be stubborn, nor am I rigid in thinking. Learning is the only process to solutions. When the majority are suffering and a few thrive, there is something radically wrong. I agree with most of what you say. Nope, no one tells me what to do or how to think. I voted Republican in the past, and did I learn my lesson.

12 months ago: This war between Republicans and Democrats is ludicrous to the growth of our Country. Bad enough they do it, and then we do it too. You can put your thinking caps on and ponder and ponder the complexities of legislation or who is better Republicans or Democrats till the cows come home. Who is lazier Republicans or Democrats? That's crazy. Anybody out there wanting to make a difference instead of retreating to their safe place. Lots of talk. No one even tries to have a solution. Anyone out there have an idea to save this Country aside from criticizing the political parties to no end? By the way, all I hear from all these scholarly politicians we have in office is their stupid opinions either for or against something. What else do we get from them? They make so many blunders, they are shameful. Possibly it is too complexed for them to understand? Give me a break.

12 months ago: Everyone seems to forget that we pay a lot of taxes and our children and grand children are bearing the burden of this dynasty. We should stop paying these people if they don't represent us. I'm all for it.
12 months ago: The US citizen's overall tax burden is one of the lowest in the "free" world. We can avoid making our children pay the burden by simply raising taxes across the board for those earning 150k or more per year.

In this way we can pay for the wars we fight, and carry out our responsibility as a nation to catch those who fall thru the cracks of our social economic system. Of course the problem comes when those who people who make the most money find ways of getting off without paying their share. So we need tax code reform. Another thing that republicans merely pay lip service to.

It's about paying the country back for the opportunities that have been made available to its citizens and to insure that the next generations children get the same opportunities. Without the government sponsored education and the freedom to pursue happiness the wealthy would have not had the opportunity to gain their wealth.

Today I took some time and went to the park for lunch because it is a beautiful day. I decided to take a little walk with my daughter down a path. I turned back and saw a car slowing down where her car was parked. They didn't see us, but I watched them as the boy took out a cell phone and went over and leaned on her car as if he owned it while the older person moved over to it and was looking at the car. Their car was parked along side but a couple of spaces over. No other cars were parked there. I saw the older person move toward her car and look at the tires and appear as if he was the owner of the vehicle. They still didn't see us as they were looking at the picnic tables across the street to see if anyone belonged to the car. They started to get comfortable and the older person stood near the door of the car. We quickly walked back, but they figured the car wasn't ours for some reason and continued to hang on the car and look in the windows. They quickly jumped away as we approached the car.
People are out and out obvious to theft.
The other day in our small town the bank was robbed and a person taken hostage. The police wound up shooting the bank robber. This never happens in our Town. If something doesn't change, crime will get worse. With no jobs available for the masses, people aren't even bothering being subtle about stealing and breaking the law. It is a scary situation when you go out.
