"Five people have died in protests in Kandahar against the burning of a copy of the Koran, a day after an attack prompted by the incident left at least 12 people dead, including seven UN staff... Initial reports said up to 20 UN workers had been killed.
Two people are said to have been beheaded."

"Not content with burning the Islamic holy book the Quran, Florida pastor Terry Jones plans to hold a trial of the Prophet Mohammed for "crimes against humanity."

I listened to a radio program today that had me going back and forth between two opinions of how bad the burning of the Koran was, and the freedom that it represented here in the West... where freedom really does exist. I am still trying to wrap my head around why Terry Jones took this fight on, and what responsibility he feels as a result of the deaths, by those protesting his actions.

One quoted a part of the New Testament that said those who were involved in Witchcraft and Sorcery burned their books after finding salvation in Jesus Christ...

"...the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor. Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed what they had done. A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas. In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power." Acts 19:17-20

...yet this is not what happened with Jones, he conducted a "trial" of the Koran, and found the book guilty of certain crimes worthy of burning. This was not the case of persons finding faith and then getting rid of their personal "baggage" by burning... this was a religious figure making a point to cause everyone to address the act he committed and whether or not it was within his right to do so. Jones said that he was only using his freedom for those in other nations, that don't have the freedom to expose the atrocities done by instruction of the Koran. Soon he has planned to hold another trial in which he will hold the prophet of Islam (Mohammed) for "crimes against humanity."

What could be the very tip of the proverbial "iceberg" is the fact that the Islamic nations already hate the West and have pronounced death to us infidels... so how much more can they hate us? IF the bombing of their nations by our military is not enough, surely the burning of a holy book is. But who is responsible for the deaths that have been as a result of the Koran burnings? IF we say Terry Jones, then we should also say America... because of the actions of standard foreign policy with their dictators. Others have been killed as a result of our involvement in the East...
SHOULDN'T those doing the killing be held responsible?
AND wasn't that the point of all this at the start?

Help me out here...
...freedom of speech or imposing freedoms on a people that don't want it...
or are just afraid of those who are holding a knife to their throat?
