Occupy protesters were beaten, sprayed with pepper spray, shot with rubber bullets and blasted by pain inducing tones. Since this did not seem to stop them, now the authorities are considering preventing protesters from breathing.Do you remember the famous scene from Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 in China, with pregnant woman proudly standing in front of Chinese army tanks? Now, imagine that woman slowly suffocating and falling down. That is the image you could have opportunity to witness on US squares soon enough.
Chinese Zhao Ziyang at Tienanmen Square told the students "
You are still young, there are still many days yet to come, you must live healthy, and see the day when China accomplishes the four modernizations. You are not like us, we are already old, it doesn't matter to us any more."
Us government plans to respond in a different manner to Occupy protesters and their silly ideas of ending corrupt Wall Street corporate rule. Together with major Defense contractor – Raytheon, US government plans to introduce a new "
non-lethal crowd control" weapon to its already rich arsenal.
Raytheon has a large experience in creating other "crowd-control" solutions like AGM-129 ACM (Advanced Cruise Missile), BGM-109 Tomahawk and their humane experiments such as
using prisoners for testing pain inducing ray guns. Now, they plan to produce a new weapon that can be used to suffocate and prevent people breathing at a distance.
The new
man-portable non-lethal pressure shield works by sending out a series of pulsed pressure beams. That resonates with the upper respiratory tract of the target and can render intended victims stunned or incapacitated. Possibility of lung damage is supposedly avoided if the officer in charge does not increase the weapon's power output too much. Nobody mentions what could happen if you suffer from some respiratory illness or complication. Hey, after all, if you are sick, you should let government do whatever it wants and not be out protesting.
To me, any "non-lethal" weapon that disrupts the respiratory tract and hinders breathing is just too scary.
Raytheon's patent points out that while the sound waves being generated will cause protesters to collapse from a lack of oxygen reaching their brains, their eardrums will not be damaged because those sound waves are not too powerful. I just hope that no upset officer will push that control knob to the red.
If you consider all the provisions of
National Defense Authorization Act, I am sure that you will be able to see the full potential of such weapon. After all,
water-boarding gets dull after time...
