Putting your kid into a crib? Hold your horses! If it’s a Simplicity crib, you don’t want to make that move.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has warned the nation that up to 400,000 Simplicity cribs may have design defects. This isn’t the first Simplicity crib recall (there were Simplicity crib recalls in 2007 and 2008), and it probably won’t be the last.
One baby has died in a tragic Simplicity crib accident, and another 25 have been injured.
Technically speaking, the Simplicity cribs’ flaw is in the drop-down part of one of the sides. Infants have been getting stuck between the cribs’ side and the mattress.
The Simplicity crib models that are being recalled are numbers 8050, 8325, 8620, 8745, 8748, 8755, 8756, 8765, 8778, 8810, 8994, 8995, and 8996 – the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has stated that the flawed Simplicity cribs were sold between January 2005 and last month.
Sadly, the manufacturer is out of business, so there is no way to repair a flawed crib. If you own a Simplicity crib, your best bet is to return it to the store you bought it at and ask for a refund. Good luck.
