Shouldn't we all be DEAD by now?

In the midst of this latest so-call 'epidemic' or 'pandemic' or whatever '-emic' it is, the Swine Flu or H1N1 virus, it really has me rolling my eyes and sighing.

Shouldn't we all be DEAD by now?!!!

It seems every year, or every 6 months, there's some new deadly disease that is supposed to wipe out all humans. Oh no! Quick, alert the media and the press! The word must be spread and people must be warned!!!

Except, it NEVER happens! EVER!!

Yet, every time, I see society freak out and people get in an unnecessary panic, acting like a bunch of idiots over NOTHING. That's what all this stuff is. NOTHING.

I'll be honest. I never got the H1N1 vaccine they've been trying to force everyone to get. OOOOOhhhhh, big shocker!! I'm sooooo evil!! O_O Truthfully, I'm not going to get it, either. I don't understand WHY so many people are so quick to just run out and get whatever medication the media claims is supposed to protect them. They just run out and put all sorts of unnatural things into their bodies, just because some so-called 'experts' on TV told them to do so. That in an of itself is dangerous, because when people no longer think for themselves, that's when things get really bad. Heck, people are going to start mutating one of these days.

According to the scare tactics constantly used, we all should have been killed off many times over. Remember the Mad Cow Disease scare? SARS? West Nile Virus? The Tuberculosis freak out caused by that guy in the airport? The E Coli scare that gave people an excuse not to eat vegetables? The Bird Flu? A while back, they tried to make it seem as if everyone had a peanut allergy and the peanuts were going to kill everyone. I even remember when they tried to scare people about Small Pox. As far as I'm concerned, this Swine Flu thing is no different. When people realize there was nothing to have a panic about, that's when the newest and latest so-called epidemic gets picked up and forced in everyone's faces. Just watch, in about 6 to 10 months, there's going to be another new disease the media claims to be the next big epidemic. They do this stuff to make money, I highly doubt they really care if some random people with no power get sick.

Oh, and it ticks me off when someone's kid dies, and then the media jumps all over it, and the grieving parents are put in front of the cameras, and it's more pressure to everyone else to just run out and get the vaccine. It's just tacky. Kids die from stuff all the time, everyday. It doesn't mean it's an epidemic, it means those kids were just unlucky. Or, they might have been sicker than was thought all along.

Then some people try to make others feel bad by asking stuff like, "WHat if it happens to YOU?" You know what? If it happens to me, THEN I'll worry, but I already know it won't. A lot of these diseases and 'epidemics' can be stopped or reduced if people would just have and use more common sense. Like making sure people wash themselves and their hands thoroughly with soap and hot water on a regular basis; hand sanitizer is NOT the same! It's just what lazy nasty people use. How about covering faces and mouths when coughing or sneezing (and doing these things into the elbow and NOT the hands)? PEOPLE STAYING AWAY FROM OTHERS WHEN THEY ARE SICK! If being around others can't be avoided, then take a lesson from people in Asia and Europe; they wear masks when they're not healthy, and they keep their germs to themselves. Encouraging kids to be cleaner. I don't know why people think that kids aren't just as nasty and germy as adults; half of them pick their noses, for goodness' sake! Here's one that a lot of people don't do: COVERING TOILETS BEFORE FLUSHING. Everytime a toilet is flushed, all the urine and fecal matter and other bacteria gets thrown up into the air, where it lingers. So when you walk in the room, or use your uncovered toothbrush, or wash your face with your towel, you're putting all that nasty stuff in your mouth and back on your body. People should always put the lids down on toilets BEFORE they flush, and public toilet lids should be mandatory. Here's another one. Not eating and drinking after people, not sharing cups and silverware. There's no telling WHAT a person has, so why chance it? Get and use your own, and if you want to share food, use a fork or something to move it to a separate dish, and DON'T let people stick their hands inside a bag of chips or sweets. Pour that stuff out so they can get it without contaminating the whole thing.

I just don't think people should be so eager to believe the hype. When a TRUE epidemic comes and kills everyone or most everyone, we'll all know about it. Until then, all this other stuff is just another way to make money off the fear of people and keep as many people terrified of their own shadows as possible.
