In various ways, at various times, the Church of Scientology has encountered and interacted with the internet. Today its web pages number in the thousands because most of its churches maintain a web site of their own, in addition to the central organization, and associated pages such as Studytechnology.org.
As the Church has developed an internet presence, it has run ads, or adverts, which show themselves on web pages related to Scientology searches. This has brought some reaction by some critics.
Recently the Church, having established a video internet presence including YouTube.com, begin a television advertising campaign, which, it has announced, will run until the end of the year, until December.
Statistics can be difficult to follow, but online reaction to the Church’s television campaign is unmistakably. In the face of critics here on RantRave, who insist the opposite, the Church’s web traffic has risen nearly 500 percent. Of the many internet web sites around the world, Scientology.org is nearing the 5000th most visited web site.
