Where did you go?

I spent a great deal of time with you the last few days discussing your topic, Evolution allowed in Florida Schools, and I felt that you, an atheist, and I, a Christian, had made substantial inroads in dispelling preconceived notions.

Then I see today that all our work has been erased with your account.
This isn't the first time a hotly contested topic has been erased because the owner didn't like the way it was going, or decided to leave.
I would like to see the way this is handled on this forum changed by the administration. If you want to delete your account, you should be able to do so, but don't take the hard work and opinions of those who cared enough to respond with you.

I know this is trivial, and I sound like a whiner, but chime in if you want.

If an account is deleted, should all the posts by that contributor be deleted? It makes for some patchy threads when the poster is replying to another's topic.

Though I completely agree with you that the loss of these threads can leave large gaps. I would not have any solution to propose to RR administration which could cover all aspects fairly, though I wish I did. Nice post though, and it is a shame for things to work out in this manner. I can be as guilty as anyone about getting emotional about a topic but there must be self regulated lines of which we do not cross, or at least I would think to recognize and apologize as soon as possible if we accidentally do so.

Many of the topics are of a highly sensitive nature, and sometimes perceived as handled in a highly insensitive way. I was not in on that particular one, and got there too late to read both sides, so I can't have an opinion about it, but this is why we are here, to put our opinions out there, run 'em up the flagpole, so to speak.
But also, there is a difference between criticism and hateful lambasting. Like I said, I don't have the info necessary to make a call here.

Maybe when a contributor leaves, they could put xxxxxxxx's for the name, and no link to a profile, since the profile would have been removed.

Anyway, to all former contributors, it was nice talking with you.
30 months ago: I agree and your idea sounds like it has potential since the contributor which wants to delete his/her account would not longer be identified. Maybe administration will toss it around (Alex what do ya think?).

30 months ago: Hi Sanderdoe. Welcome to RR. We can get into some "lively" debate here but the emphasis is on the material and not the person. We always seem to have some "drive by" comment posters who will drop in and shoot off some steam but they generally either calm down or move on after a while. The best advice I could give on submitting a rant or rave is to try to have some good facts or a solid potential thesis when submitting anything for debate. The members also enjoy any tid-bits of information which are helpful or just fun to read.
