This video is a wonderful example of the misguided brain-washing the media uses on Republicans and how far the party has strayed from conservative values. I will break down this video into three parts and explain the many glaring fallacies of this video. I encourage everyone to comment because discussing issues like this in a logical fashion is the only way to focus on the political issues that really matter and not fluff videos like "America Rising."
Part 1: Empty Promises
- The first part of this video describes the hypocrisy of Obama's promises but remember that McCain promised to "restore balance", "make the world safer," and "make our future brighter" as well. So McCain and Obama promised the same things that they could never deliver. We should understand that one man and one congress cannot efficiently rule over 300 million people, it's just not going to work. So the video proposes the Republicans are going to elect persons that will fix our problems. Having these expectations of individuals is dangerous and foolish. Stronger and more responsible state and local governments is the only way to handle long-term issues. A Republican congress will not solve our problems and believing so is just as bad as believing Obama could fix all of our problems.
Part 2: Empty Republican Threats
Part two explains what will not happen once Republicans win in November.
- "No Taxes" this is the first threat towards Obama. Obama has cut taxes across the board, how Republicans get away with saying he has increased taxes is beyond comprehension. Remember that only half of the population pays taxes and if we were over taxed at least the debt level would not be so high. To suggest our taxes are too high for what services we are receiving is foolish. Debt = Shortfall.
- "No Spending" Does anyone really believe that Republicans will stop spending if they get elected? The biggest spending in the Federal Government is on entitlements (see pic 1) which Regan and George W. Bush increased while cutting taxes at the same time. Does anyone think that Sarah Palin has the ability or incentives to reform entitlements? Do Republicans talk about reforming entitlement spending? No, they talk about cutting taxes as if that is a magical solution to our massive debt problem.
- "No More Socialism" This statement is just silly. Someone show me what Obama has done that other Presidents have not done that has made this country more socialist. Don't say healthcare because I address that below.
- "Freedom" How has Obama obstructed anyone's freedom in a new way? I also believe it was Bush and a Republican Congress that passed the Patriot Act.
- "Threat to the Economy" No more than Bush, Ben Bernanke and Alan Greenspan.
- "Health Care" Reform was need because of previous government intrusions but instead of helping in a needed reform the Republican Party stuck their heads in the sand. I do not like how healthcare reform came out but it still needs to be reformed. (see pic 2)
Part 3: WTF?
The end of this movie completely falls apart.
- "TARP $700 Billion" Bush signed this bill not Obama, he was not even President.
- "Federal Reserve Rescue, 6.4 Trillion" I have no idea what this is because there was no rescue of the federal reserve and the assets it does have were because of FDIC guarantees on bank deposits. Obama had nothing to with this.
- "Back Room Dealing" Come on! Republicans do the same thing all the time. Enron was the biggest contributor to the Bush election and Bush returned the favor by relaxing accounting standards and deregulating energy markets. This allowed Enron to lie to the world until it all fell apart.
- "Bribes" Proof?
- "HealthCare" we still need reform.
In closing let me say I am not an Obama fan or a liberal. Obama and the Democrats are just as flip-floppy as the rest of Washington. I do not believe that main stream media movies such as this will have any beneficial effect on the real problems that this country faces. Only logical discussions on real issues will solve this nation's problems.
