It's another day folks and yet another conservative family values Republican has been exposed as a do as I say and not as I do hypocrite. From the Beehive state of Utah, State Representative and House Majority Leader Kevin Garn found himself in scalding hot water as a 25 year old skeleton fell out of his closet and revealed that he had been hot tubbing with a naked 15 year old girl while he was married at age of 30. Mr. Garn was a Sunday School teacher to the victim when she was in the 4th grade and by the time of the hot tub incidents, she worked for Garn in his businesses and was a babysitter for his children.
The 15 year old girl who is now a 40 year old woman, Cheryl Maher said she was traumatized by the events but had kept quiet until now due to Mr Garn paying her hush money in the amount of $150,000. Apparently, the money was not sufficient and she spilled the beans last week claiming that the long held secret had devastated her and her family's life. Mr. Garn confessed that the two had sat nude in a Salt Lake City hot tub but insisted there was no sexual contact while the Maher claimed there was touching and physical contact, but declined to elaborate. My educated guess tells me that $150,000 in hush money covers far more than Garn ogling and making goo goo eyes at the naked child.
Sickeningly, Mr. Garn received wild applause and a standing ovation from his Republican colleagues when he confessed his long held secret. Whether they were applauding him for molesting, err hot tubbing with a minor, or for paying her hush money to preserve his political career, one may never know but if Mr Garn had been a Democrat, one can be sure that the Republicans would not be in a cheering mood; they would have been frothing at the mouth and bleeding self-righteous indignation.
In any event, Representative Garn and his colleagues came to their senses shortly after the confession, and he fell on his sword and resigned in disgrace.
