Regarding Deleted Posts

A few individuals in the past few days have been complaining about me deleting their posts. I have received emails from people accusing me of "Censorship!" Someone even suggested that Google doesn't allow us to post certain material, based on who they gave campaign money to.

Let me assure everyone, I am not deleting posts based on censorship, ideological differences, or the fact that you just irritate me (even though some of you do).

Here are two simple suggestions to those who keep getting their posts deleted...

1. Stop plagiarizing materials!

Yes, that's right. When you find an article written by someone else on a different website, copy the text and paste it into your rant, you are stealing someone else's content. If you only want to re-post other people's hard work and research, go somewhere else.

2. Stop spamming the site!

Someone claimed that they were the original author of one of the posts I found on 25 other websites. If that's the case, then fine. You're not plagiarizing. But, you are a spammer. We are not interested in your spam. We are not a re-posting site. We are interested in original content.

That's it. Don't steal or spam.

If you happen to notice that all of a post has been plagiarized, please flag it, so I may delete it.

If you are upset by these two suggestions and want to leave... bye.

29 months ago: Does that mean we can't add to a POSTs content as long as we either post the source or link?

I do not feel that when we insert that information it is plagiarized. I do respect the fact that RR is watching out for us though.

Thanks for deleting my questionable posts! I mean that. How about the edit of existing posts? When will we be able to edit post text from the profile page?

CYA and 8s.

29 months ago: Thanks for the clarification. I was personally curious and threw some ideas out there to try to induce some kind of response. Turns out two of the people in that particular conversation knew what was going on and didn't tell anyone.

29 months ago: Cypress - No, I do not consider inserting info to be plagiarism. My problem with folks like xinunus is that the entire post is a word-for-word reprint, without a single word of added commentary.

Regarding editing post, we are hesitant to do that because people could write one thing, get the rant posted on Google News, then completely re-write their post. For example, someone could write about how much the love Obama, then once it's on Google News, re-write the post to encourage the kicking of puppies. Then, we have a pro-puppy kicking post with our name on it on Google News.

We have a few ideas we're kicking around to address this, so hang in there.

To everyone else, if you have any concerns regarding what I've written, please post it here and I will gladly respond. Please know that we are not trying to hold anyone back or supress any point of view. We are simply trying to encourage original thought.

(This comment is not adressed to you.)

Since I am a conservative, you can assume I cannot think for myself and everything is plagarized.

Hilarious. I haven't heard that in 20 years!

29 months ago: scotmanster - Here's how I determine if something is spam. I copy a random sentence (which I rule to be original text, not a quotation) from your rant and paste it in Google with quotes around it. If Google returns 5 pages of results, showing the exact text, then I rule it spam.

For example, this is from xinunus's latest post, "PELOSI HIDING OBAMA's ELIGIBILITY?". This is the first sentence of his rant...

"A commentator at Canada Free Press says he has obtained copies of two documents"

Now, copy that and paste it into a Google search, with the quotes. I came up with 376 results. Clearly, this is not someone who can think for themselves.
29 months ago: Well as for that Xinius guy he was whining on one of my posts because he got deleted. Apparently he thought I would give him sympathy...he would have better luck in the Dictionary.

I believe on one or two occasions my posts went too far and Alex let me have it. So be it. Happens to the best of us and if all they are doing is reposting some crud about Scientology there is no loss period.

29 months ago: For the sake of comic relief, I thought I'd share xinunus's parting remarks. They are what you would expect...

"YOU DELETED ANOTHER ONE OF MY RANTS FOR NO REASON AT ALL. PLEASE DELETE MY ACCOUNT. I DO NOT WANT TO BE ANY PART OF A WEBSITE THAT CENSORS PEOPLE. THIS SITE IS NO DIFFERENT FROM A SITE RUNNING IN CHINA OR RUSSIA. YOU DONT BELONG IN AMERICA YOU BELONG IN A COMMUNIST COUNTRY WERE THEY TELL PEOPLE WHAT TO THINK AND SAY. GO TO HELL!!"

This was promptly followed by...

"DELETE MY ACCOUNT YOU COMMUNISTS!!! I WILL NOT BE BACK. GO TO HELL!!!!!!!!!"

So, I have decided to grant his request (even though it's pretty simple to delete your own account).

RantRave is officially one less crazy.
29 months ago: Clarification. Thanks. I was curious on what X had posted and got deleted. Sounds fine to me. I try to reference the author when I cut and paste, especially if it is someone who gets paid for writing articles. And you can delete all the spammers stuff, they are just trolling for victims.
29 months ago: Thank You. I was getting tired of reading that in every post. Am I on that list? Shake it Up!

It seems that he preferred virtual euthanization to virtual suicide but I have a feeling that xinunus will be born again one day, and I wonder what his new avatar name will be. I'd suggest dementus or in honor of his penchant for using all-caps, stickykeys
29 months ago: I usually assume someone posting in all-caps is a troll or a kid these days. Whenever I encounter someone who honestly believes it gets his posts more positive notice, I'm always taken aback.

29 months ago: That must take a sixth sense to know when to check a post like that. I've seen a lot of ideological diversity on this site. It's pretty accepting of ideological diversity

Only 1 less crazy.
