“Everyone agrees. It’s about to explode.”

The first words of “The Coming Insurrection” are volatile, and the rest of the short book is no different. It was written under shadowy circumstances after the civil unrest in Paris in 2005. There’s no real author – credit is given to an anonymous “Invisible Committee,” which may or may not include the “Tarnac Nine,” alleged terrorists who were arrested following the Paris riots.

“The Coming Insurrection” is due to be released in English soon, but its anti-government/anarchist tone has already scared the folks over at FOX News.

Pundit Glenn Beck wrote a quick commentary on his blog (he made several factual mistakes) and it’s become a lightning rod for opinion. While Beck stops short of suggesting banning “The Coming Insurrection,” he does suggest that with the publication of the book, the left will become more violent.

Never mind that crazy right-wingers are to blame for recent violence in the U.S. Beck lives in a fantasy world without fact checking, where instead of learning, we should all just live in fear.

I will be buying “The Coming Insurrection” as soon as I can find a copy, and I encourage you to do the same. I’ve linked to some English excerpts on the left.

Learn. Don't fear.

The left has a jew-hater in Obama's moral consultant Reverend Wright. You label all conservatives as violent while peddling this "kill your neighbor" manual. What a hypocrite!
14 months ago: I just watched Becks program on this publication, and you are wrong. He was not upset at the book. He was upset that liberal French had a better understanding of the values that started America than conservatives or liberals in the US.
I will buy this book as soon as it is available in English. I have read several chapters that are out on the web. There is good info, no matter what side you are on.

Don't worry; when we take back the country, it will be at the polls. Preferrably. However; anything is possible.

If only we could be shocked, scared, uncertain, and angry 365 days a year--we'd ratify almost any of Beck's initiatives. He may even cry.

Beck wants to protect our liberty, and you, an elite, I know what is best for the ignorant masses socialist, want to steal them away.

JAK? What are you saying? You need a few WV coal mines to explode.
Dang that is a long name...Del Rio... funny how the left wants to shadow and misdirect the actual facts. I wonder if they actually watched the BECK program while awake.

To say that FOX will shy away from a topic is insane. Chris you know better. FOX will be all over this one.

Chris never responds. He justs like writing to move up in the ranks. Either can't or won't engage in real battle.

Sorry Chris. It's your move.

14 months ago: Cypress, I'm saying Beck is a nutjob. There's no nice way to put it. He's a real life Howard Beale, only this "mad prophet" schtick isn't funny or entertaining in real life--it's a cry for help. Pretty good ratings, though, which I guess is the point. Good job, Fox.
14 months ago: JAK:
I'll bet you think Pelosi and Reed are fine, upstanding leaders too.
Chris is like most liberals. They cannot stand having someone make them address the facts. He is the socialist type that just ignores the facts.
Now, JAK, on the other hand, jumps in there, fights, and still ignores the facts.
You socialists are something else. You can only be defeated.
Go Sarah!

14 months ago: I think Pelosi is nothing more than a frozen botox grimace and Reed is clueless and craven--both are detriments to the party. And Sarah's not going anywhere, except back to Wasilla.

I'd only ask you: what makes Chris an "elite"? I hear conservatives throw this term around all the time. What do you mean by it?
14 months ago: Chris, you looks like a lefty who will be protesting for an end to the Defense of Marriage Act. Then you will be considered a Right-wing extremist according to the DHS Lexicon:

"(U) direct Action (U/FOUO) Lawful or unlawful acts of civil disobedience ranging from protests to property destruction or acts of violence. This term is most often used by single-issue or anarchist extremists to describe their activities."

Maybe you are suprised by how easily one becomes a right-wing extremist according to the Obama-Pelosi Communist party!!

P.S. Beck speaks the truth - and "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH"!
14 months ago: JAK:
You want to know what I mean when I call you and other socialists "elites"?
Let me answer it this way.
What do you think of the rest of America? Those who think abortion stops a beating heart. Those who think marriage is between a man and a woman. Those who think government sucks, but is necessary to protect us from the bad guys around the world. Those of us who think home schooling is the best, and the teacher's unions have corrupted our education system beyond repair. Those of us who think every single person on this earth, including the obese man waiting on a bus picking his nose for all to see, have special gifts endowed by our creator. Those of us who think global climate change caused by humans is a farce. etc.
"Elites" are those who think they know what is best for the rest of us ignorant commoners. Elites are those so enlightened that their poop does not stink. Elites are those who say Sarah Palin is an idiot and thinks she can see Russia from her porch. Elites are those who say George Bush lied.
I could go on and on and on...so, I will do a rant here before too long.
Does that answer your question?

14 months ago: red,

It answers my question--sort of. So "elites" are pretentious, smug, self-righteous, condescending, etc. This wouldn't describe opinion on the political right? Most people are convinced of the justness of their own opinions, and slow to make any accommodations.

I also find it strange that your opinion on one or two political candidates could be used as a litmus test for elitism. By that logic, George Will, William F. Buckley, David Frum--all conservatives in good standing--would all be considered "elitists"--they've all taken (took, in Buckley's case) a dim view of Palin. Since when did George W. Bush and Sarah Palin become stand-ins for the common folk?

I think these people are deeply conflicted on a number of issues and working at cross-purposes. Their views are all over the political map: government "sucks", unless it's being used to enforce certain cultural prejudices or to promote one religion over others; our schools are broken & captive to certain ideologies, so the answer is to turn over education to amateurs with their own narrow ideological agenda; science is a cold and impersonal modern god, unless it can be made to serve your argument (which it always can, for the right price).

We all think we know what is best for the common good--you no more so because you value plainspokeness and populist rage.

14 months ago: nut jobs and ratings? That will also be another topic. To hold short in that statement is like saying the only nut jobs are "right wingers". Your not being "fair and balanced" in your reporting and summation. Do you actually think all of Texas loves L.B.J.? Remember.. fair and balanced in your answer.

Do you actually believe the mainstream media is not leaning toward one side? Are you that blind? Or, have you just swallowed too much Kool-Aid?

14 months ago: I didn't say all right wingers are nut jobs, or even all right wing talk show hosts. I said Glenn Beck is a nut job--and that's not an insult I use casually. He himself has made the comparison to Howard Beale--he thinks it's flattering and a little funny. I think he blurs the line between satire and honest commentary--I can't tell when he's play-acting and when he's being sincere, and it's a good way of insulating himself from criticism. He crosses the line, he can always say, as he often does, "I'm here to entertain and inform--don't take any of this too seriously."

I think the mainstream media is lazy and corporatist and obsessed with beltway culture and the status quo--whatever that happens to be at any particular moment. Being obsessed to the status quo usually means being obsessed with access, and most aren't going to do anything to jeopardize that. Most media outfits stopped doing anything approaching real journalism a long time ago--the news bureau has been absorbed by the entertainment bureau. Barack Obama is popular, so it suits them to do heartwarming human interest stories on the family dog, the young first couple's big night on the town, the kids' love of the Jonas Brothers, etc.; wait until those approval numbers start to slip--they won't show any more loyalty to him than they showed Jimmy Carter or Bill Clinton.

I know all of Texas doesn't love LBJ. Failed presidency, grim Vietnam legacy--sure. But LBJ did more for civil rights in this country than could have been expected of most white southerners of his age and background. He was way ahead of the curve on civil rights and rural poverty--that's to be commended. He was a masterful parliamentarian--I don't think the Senate has seen his equal since, and you'd probably have to go back to Henry Clay to find his historical equal in either house. Like Nixon, regardless of what you think of his personal politics--still an interesting personality study.
