Why is it that the rich old white guys who created 90% of the National Debt are trying to get anyone BUT rich old white guys to pick up their tabs?

Why is it that the Fat Cats, the Bankers, Hedge Fund Managers, and Derivative traders, the guys that completely destroyed the economy of the nation, The guys who are making more money than god, are the only ones not asked to pay their fair share of taxes?

The Speaker of The House of Representatives is using terrorist tactics, holding the nation hostage, demanding trillions in cuts to domestic programs, or they will bring the entire country to it's knees. They will default on our National Debt (money THEY have already spent) which will have catastrophic consequences and end up placing us and the world in a great depression. http://www.businessinsider.com/jpmorgan-...

The Republican plan is to throw a trillion dollars at the rich and the corporations and to pay for that with drastic cuts to needed programs that are already stressed and underfunded, and by shutting down Medicare. The important thing to realize here is that the Ryan Budget, the Official Republican Plan, would not balance the budget for anywhere between 34 and 75 years (depending on assumptions used) so this type of blackmail can be repeated dozens of times.

So what do we gain if we submit to the blackmail, and we undergo these draconian cuts, loose 700,000 jobs and slow down the economy? The plan doesn't even come close to balancing the budget! All this plan does, is take the money from the poor and give it to the rich. The latest study thinks that we would balance the budget far sooner if we did NOTHING! http://www.slate.com/id/2291054/

70% of the people oppose the Republican's plans for changing Medicare and the same percentage want the elimination of Bush's tax cuts for those making over $250,000. http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2011/05/04...

81% of the people think there should be a tax surcharge on those making a million or more. So why does the House Speaker say that "Taxes Are Off The Table"? http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/03/04...

The only plan that comes close to balancing the budget – in ten years, is the People's Budget. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jeffrey-sa...

Obviously all of the politicians are just listening to their affluent and corporate sponsors. How can the vast majority of people in the country get the attention of the politicians?

On May 12th the people will take to the streets asking the politicians to do what they the people want. The Politicians do not work for the Corporations, nor the Military Industrial Complex, nor just the Millionaires and Billionaires. Our Representatives work for WE THE PEOPLE. Take to the streets Thursday and tell them. http://www.onmay12.org/

12 months ago: Yeah, the New York Times calls Ryan "the Democrats' latest chew toy".

They spent Monday beginning a campaign to portray him as the architect of fiscal policies that they view as unwise and hope will prove unpopular among voters, including plans to partially privatize Social Security and Medicare.

When the New York Times runs an article outing the Democrat propaganda machine, you know it has be glaringly obvious.
12 months ago: Why is it the lazy socalist government retired white guys blame the hard working private sector white guys for their misery? Have you noticed that trend?

By the way, who was that rich old white guy down in Austin that hosted Obama's $30,000/plate fundraiser yesterday? Blaine and Alexis Wesner? Oh yeah, that guy that owns Austin Ventures, a multi billion $$ venture capital firm. Looks like they are branching out into the insurance field pretty soon, with their Summit Global Partners deal freshly inked.

12 months ago: The Democrats doesn't need a propaganda machine to depict the Republicans as fiscally irresponsible. All they are doing is pointing out the Facts that Republicans in the House voted to kill Medicare and give a trillion dollars to the rich by making the Bush tax cuts permanent and by reducing the top tax rates from 35% to 24%.

In fact the House came very close to approving an even more radically draconian budget that would be even more embarrassing than the Ryan budget. Face it the Republicans are dominated by the extremely radical and unpopular Tea Party. http://politics.blogs.foxnews.com/2011/0...

All anyone needs to do is look at the Congressional Record.
12 months ago: Unfortunately, in a market driven society - money rules. How about no new taxes, just a complete revamp of the existing system.

Flat tax across the board. No deductions, no exceptions, no loopholes. Your income (from any source) is X you pay a set percentage of X no matter how much it is.

One of the keys is to make the system so transparent and understandable that it is hard to argue against. A millionaire who stands up and says this isn't fair is going to have a hard time with the people in the room who aren't millionaires and will see their rate go down.

Take it a step farther and put it through as a constitutional amendment. Virtually certain to be ratified by the general public.
12 months ago: Get real with your updated estimate Al. That video shows maybe 100 at best. Unless you count Alberts head. 20 thousand? You need coke bottle glasses to the 10th power.
12 months ago: What exactly would the percentage be if there actually was 20 thousand protesters in a city of 8,175,133? Somewhere below 3/1000ths of 1 percent?

Pulled out the trusty calculator and it says.....using your numbers.....

Point zero zero two four four six four four three three seven percent

.00244644337 percent

But hey! this was a "national" protest so let's use the population of the entire U.S.

What exactly would the percentage be if there actually was 20 thousand protesters in a country of 310,000,000? Somewhere below 7/100000ths of 1 percent?

Point zero zero zero zero six four four five three seven five percent

.00006445375 percent

Your right! That is a ground swell! I'm convinced!
