Polygamy is next up for "legal status”.

Once "marriage" has been taken out of the confines of biological establishments there will be no stopping the regression train. I put forth a simple scenario to frame this statement. We have established in New York that no person or people can say what "marriage" is as long as there is love involved. Nature its self is not to define what makes a marriage. So polygamists will demand their right to marriage. After all to say no to them would mean we are "polygaphobes" right. And if multiple partners are acceptable which they must be since nature no longer plays a role in marriage then three or even four men or women can marry right? In fact where can the line be drawn since no one should say what marriage is. There will of course be no limit and though it won't be tomorrow, the total perversions will come and demand legal protection.

The gay activists will not like it of course. But simply replace all the arguments of gay marriage with polygamist marriage and it is easy to see there will be no ability to restrict it.

10 months ago: It's a slippery slope into a mess.

If a sister wants to tie her tubes and marry her brother can't that be permissible as well? After all they love each other. Who is to say that that is wrong? Only some hate filled, intolerant, foaming at the mouth bigot I suppose.

Where does it end?
10 months ago: Seriously??? Polygamists have been using these arguments for years. They don't need to use homosexual unions as an excuse. The fact of the matter is that legalizing polygamist marriages would make much much more of a mess than that of homosexual marriages. How would taxes, social security, and insurance coverage be regulated?

I suggest to you that pro-polygamists that will/ would practice polygamy already are. They don't need the approval of the state.
10 months ago: You got it SP. Gays, Polygamists, and many other off the wall types do not need "approval" from the state. They can and have found ministers who will witness their vows and "marry" them. No it is not approval they seek. It is government protection and suppression they seek. As "legal" the government will force all those who do not condone gay marriage and eventually polygamist marriages etc to accept and allow these and other types into their churches businesses schools etc etc or other wise suffer the legal consequences such as law suits or even criminal offenses.

The aim has always been and will be to have government as the tool to force others into suppressing and objections to their life style. Though the mass of people supporting gay marriage think they are just trying to get their "rights" I am sure the core of the gay activist knows what they are after.

Polygamy is not far behind and though not as big it will surely win as there will be no defense against it. And eventually three or four gay men or women who wish to marry will sue for their rights of marriage as they see fit and will win. These cases will not be as noticeable or large in the public eye, but eventually four or five gay men will be able to marry and legally adopt foster children. Our government will pay them for this and our government will protect them in these activities. But there will not be as many of these situations and will likely gain little attention in the grand scheme of things so everyone will think everything is just fine.

I think you've really nailed this. In an ethically relativistic culture anything goes and that is the way things are heading here in the good ole US of A.

Get rid of moral standards. Blur the lines of right and wrong. Deny the existence of any objective truth. Get God out of the government but get the government in to control what the churches can and cannot teach.

In an environment like that, this nation can be re-shaped and re-established in whatever image they like. The recipe for disaster.

Very prophetic and very disturbing.
10 months ago: I agree Huey, very disturbing for those who are not just living for today. There will be a quite time I feel as the gay activists are trying to get the laws changed on a national level. However once that is in place all they will need to do is march into a church on couples night and if the church says anything they will get a law suit slapped on them. This will change the dynamics of our society. For those of us who do not feel we can condone this lifestyle it will be for the worse.

The polygamists are a smaller group so they will I feel simply slip in behind the gay laws. There will be no defense because it will no longer be about what is convenient for the government or whether the tax codes become more complicated or not. Once the base for marriage becomes that no person or persons and not even nature itself can say what marriage is to each individual or individuals then it is anything goes. Of course I believe the perversions and terrible actions which will be protected under law at this time will be largely ignored by the public in general.

I feel pretty confident that as this goes forward there will come a time when three or four gay men or women will be able to marry in a multi-partner marriage, legally adopt numerous foster children, get paid by our tax dollars to raise these children and if anyone attempts to suggest abuse the government will be not on the children's side but will protect the legality of the marriage over anything else. And the media will likely avoid any story as it does not fit the "happy nontraditional family" it is trying so hard to promote these days.
10 months ago: Slippery slope indeed! First Gay Marriages, Second Poly-amorous (That is the politically correct term now) relations, Third any combination of the Two. In other cultures as soon as a girl has her period she is considered a prime candidate for marriage, even as young as ten so why not add children to the mix as well as long as they are consenting and in love, right? Many people treat their pets as family members even leaving property to them in their wills. Who is to say they shouldn't legally be able to love their beloved Rover in wedded bliss? Sounds strange now but so did the absurdity of gay marriage 50 years ago.
10 months ago: Woof! Woof!
10 months ago: I agree DJ. By presenting the idea that nature does not play a role in what a marital relationship should be the generations to come will slowly lose touch with what is good and what is a perversion of nature. The already in place ideology of "if it feels good do it" will become more prevelant. And it seems to me because this does not happen immediately after these laws take effect the left feels all is well, no harm done.
