More than 34,000 people have been killed in Mexico since President Felipe Calderon took office in late 2006 and launched a sustained effort to eliminate violent drug-trafficking cartels. More than 65,000 guns recovered in Mexico have been traced back to the United States.

Mexico has been asking the United States to help by reducing the demand for the drugs and by stopping the flow of easily purchased automatic weapons into Mexico.

When the Obama administration tried to crack down on the gun runners the NRA pressured the Congressmen that they own, lock stock and barrel, to kill the effort.

When Reagan was president the CIA cooperated with the drug cartels and even smuggled drugs to pay for the Contras in their illegal war against Nicaragua. http://rationalrevolution.net/war/cia_dr...

Once again part of the government is in bed with the drug runners. Last time it was the Republican President and the effort was opposed by the Democratic Congress. Now it is the Republican House that is aiding the drug cartels and the Democratic President who is fighting the cartels.

The Obama administration has been very successful in intercepting drugs coming across the border which may have contributed to the increase in violence across the border. http://alcoholism.about.com/b/2009/03/17...

Now the administration wants to shift more funding to prevention programs to cut the demand, while also trying to stop the flow of guns flowing to the drug cartels, but he not only has to fight the drug cartels he also has to fight Congress and the NRA. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con...

15 months ago: Shift funding to prevention programs...you mean, just like the "Just Say No" programs?
15 months ago: "easily purchased automatic weapons"?

Is that not what they said about Waco? Where again are all of those automatic weapons that the government found at Waco?

15 months ago: Few Mexican guns come from the US. The Cartels prefer automatic weapons and buy them from around the world (rather than lame semi-autos available in the US).

The few US guns they have in the last year or so, have mostly been traced to the ATF and their effort to manufacture numbers to help a certain (D) political party in exchange for agency funding.

14 months ago: Feel free to attack me whenever you cannot rebuke the DATA.

CBS news reported last night about how this ATF manufacturing of numbers- led to the murder of US Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

Senator Grassley and the Senate Judiciary Commitee have issued subpenas for the Director of the ATF and Eric Holder. Melson, Holder, and someone in WH are likely to spend jail time for their misdeeds.

No one was killed in Watergate. Watergate was a few guys.

Gunwalker is deliberate policy, across several agencies. Gunwalking involves multiple felonies. And the stonewalling/lying/coverup is where the big prison terms will come from.

DATA trumps your deliberate make-believe.

14 months ago: by the way- Fox News hasn't been covering the "Gunwalker scandal". Faux News is just Left-of-Center, so it does not meet their agenda.

Few in media would touch this story, because their paymasters do not like DATA; but rather prefer to stick to party line approved talking points.

But who cares about the State run media. The truth is the TRUTH.
Depending on some authority to approve the message before you believe it?

14 months ago: no response...

Data beats mythology, again.
