Have those of you with children or those of you who have cared for children ever found yourselves watching a kiddy show? The ones I am referring to have the animals in human form or with animals that act like humans like Arthur, Max and Ruby, or Oswald, Franklin, Little Bear, etc. and then you see them with a pet? Franklin has a gold fish. Arthur has a dog . Mickey Mouse has Pluto. Have you found your self wondering why animals on these shows have pets? I often find myself asking my self this same question every time I have to watch these shows because of complete boredom or because if I change it my younger siblings would start to cry and scream and I would end up with a headache.
So what would posses these bipedal, human speaking, animals to have pets? Is it because they are further up the evolutionary tree? Do they consider the regular animals just animals and not kin? If that is the case then wouldn’t that be like slavery? It would be like us taking a Neanderthal as a pet, if they still existed that is. Perhaps a possibility would be those GEICO© cave men. *Insert evil laughter here*. Here in America when whites owned slaves they didn’t even consider blacks the same species, let alone kin. Is this the way that the bipedal human speaking animals see it? Some of you might be saying or thinking “hey it’s just a show so who cares?” Well I do, so there! Any way it’s not only in these fantasy lands, that the whole pet’s having pets is happening, there are some crazy pet owners out there that treat their pets like children and give their “children” pets.
Come on this is going way to far! Isn’t it? I work for a pet food company and I am forced to call the customers “pet parents”. What?! I just want to know who is that damn lonely, that they superimpose their lost dreams of a child on a poor animal? An animal that most likely only wants food, shelter, exercise and kindness. Who knows what kind of physiological damage that owners is doing to their poor animal by doing that. Since I don’t speak dog and I am not Cesar Milan the Dog Whisperer I can’t tell you. But I can’t be the only person who finds these shows and those people (definitely the people) to be slightly warped.
