Now What, Obama???

This is going to be an incredibly short rant, but I need to get it out of my system.

I voted for Obama because I believed he was the lesser evil. Even if he screws up completely, I do not think he can be worse than Bush.

I was against the automobile industry bailout because they are a private industry that buys off anyone that designs a much more fuel efficient or alternative-energy run car. They are also directly linked to the oil companies. Also, if Ford and GM had gone under I had faith that American ingenuity would have produced better car companies within a year or so.

Anyways, now that the "real" bailout has passed, how is it going to benefit me??? Okay, so I'll get some below-average health care for free because the best doctors will go private.

Plus, it seems like it is only going to help people who are already financially ruined. What about the majority of the country that continues to work ourselves to the bone so that we are not bankrupt, evicted, or foreclosed upon??? What do we get??? Better education for our children in public schools??? Not likely. Plus, I do not have children but I still work myself ragged so that I can be lower middle-class. I am also concerned that because of his childhood he will give way too much money to lazy single-mothers. They'll still be getting more money every month for every new kid they have, and they will never get jobs because they are raising "our future". Increased food stamps and help for children of impoverished parents is a good thing, but I think it will primarily be the "poor" parents that see their lives improved.

What about me??? I dropped out of college two-thirds towards my bachelor's degree so I can save money for what I see as an inevitable DEPRESSION. So, I do not have children, I work full-time as a waiter (making about 30 grand a year), and I'm not currently in college. I think I will simply be forced to work harder, because what could Obama possibly offer ME directly???

But, to answer your question, starting in June, one of the tax breaks will put an extra $13 a week in your paycheck.

That's the way they've BOTH done it for 100 years, and they are not planning on changing anytime soon. It's time for people, real people, to start demanding more from our government. "Failed policies of the past."? Aren't these the same failed policies. Of course they are because, as I've ranted about before in my Rant: I Have Had With Democrats and Republicans, neither, as evidenced by this stimulus package, really wants to help America. They want to keep the fat in their pockets and get re-elected to their cushy jobs.

39 months ago: Thanks. I didn't even have time to go on the computer because I was busy thinking. Just thinking. How can we really come together as Americans and stop this tension that I feel everywhere I go??? My job, the supermarket, the DVD rental store, 7-11, anywhere. It seems that there was a boost of false confidence for about a week after the inauguration that even my pessimism couldn't resist. But honestly, now what??? I'm running out of ideas and am more depressed than I have been in years. At least I have a fairly large support group of family and friends, and a job. I cannot even imagine what it must be like for the recently unemployed that do not have the support of family and friends. I think that I'm going to start volunteering. If anybody can think of non-profit organizations that are worthy of my time when I'm not working, I'd very much welcome suggestions.

I am a little sick of the finger pointing at the mortgage industry, and the thought that if you are going through foreclosure it is the fault of the home buyer. In many cases it is not their fault at all. When you are sitting at the closing table and the person that represents Countrywide Mortgage Company sells you on a ARM and acts as though a traditional mortgage would be a huge mistake because the rate is locked in and with the ARM your rate could actually go down (what a load of crap!) they strong arm you into the ARM. Then your $1500 mortgage payment is $3200 in a matter of just 4 years. I am sorry but I got bamboozled by Countrywide. I am a small business owner and my wife and I work our fingers to the bone and scrape by, and all of the planning in the world could not have prepared us for that increase in our mortgage. So by a matter of a few days we saved our house with a short sale, losing all of our equity, but did not have the house go through foreclosure. How about giving us a little bit of a break and dull your view about us going through what could quite possibly be one of the toughest times in our lives.
