"This version, she said, seemed to be "less and less about financial awareness" — children do not need math skills in it— and more about social interaction."

"In the new version of Monopoly, the game's classic pastel-colored bills and the designated Banker have been banished, along with other old-fashioned elements, in favor of a computer that runs the game." ... "The first thing I said was, 'The next thing they'll do away with is the players.' "

Am I imagining this? Monopoly without cash, dice or free enterprise? What's next, Monopoly RFID's? Seriously, if this isn't taking social engineering to another level what is? GOOD GRIEF! Remember when children could learn to count, wheel and deal? One could test their trading skills to make better buys and sales... those days may soon be coming to a close thanks to Hashbro, inventors of the Monopoly game.

The original game by Parker Brothers was made in 1935 and reflected the means of commerce until now, but with banking, Barristers and BIG BROTHER... a more contemporary issue of the game was necessary (opinion mine). Hasbro seems to be focusing on social interaction, rather than financial fraction... leaving players to wonder if they need their brain at all. Also other things are introduced into this "governmentally" friendly game like betting on "horse races" and other necessary skill testing adventure directed at 8-12 year-olds. This may actually be the most constructive part of the game, believe it or not, being able to place bets... may help this future generation in their choice of governmental leadership.

I hate to say it, but this game is pretty much the way it is... there is no guess as to which moves you and I are allowed to make, and that our "lots" in life are left to chance. This is preparing us for the next era of globalism to be an accepted reality like it or not... and it is best for us all to learn to be "tolerant" and play well together. Am I just writing more into this than there is? Because, I think this is some scary s---f! What are they going to introduce as an upgrade to this electronic babysitter... political correctness 101, or socialistic agendas 102? How about an RFID chip under the skin?!?

This whole News caught me off-guard, like the Barbie doll with a hidden camera... like wait just a minute! Get this 'Conopoly' game off my lawn... and use that little baggie thing that it came with! If I get my family one of these phony "mind-control" wastes of time for my kids... just slap me! Whoa... I really have to get on another subject be for I wear out the !!!!! key!

Think of it... we won't even be able to fight any more?!? Like what's with that? What fun is it unless someone storms off in a pout, because they had been the victim of a hostile corporate take-over? See I think those things are going to be a thing of the past, because we have already been taken over as much as we can be... and this is the new Monopoly... and it's no game. Everything is connected and engineered so we don't have to count our money... we just need to know our place on the board, and in this world.

It is not going to be easy trying to get a loan or make a deal with the next guy... the banker will be totally eliminated. Your social value will be determined by your position in the game, and your advancement will be determined by electronic algorithms and arbitrary random computer generated impulses. This may be a comfort to those who never did like the dice and chance... or that egotistical high-roller... but apparently there still are loosers in this game, and in my opinion, it now includes the ones who bought into this game to begin with!

I'm sorry, if you want to purchase Monopoly Live go ahead... it will probably be all that you hoped and more. It will have the feel of reality and will target those who will need it most in tomorrows world. It is probably better that we bow down graciously to the powers that be, and accept our computer generated lots in life... and look with excitement at our "new" location on the hamster-wheel of fortune. I hope that it can get upgrades like anthrax sirens, detention centers, and processing plants... after all the real commodities we are talking about are people.

Maybe I took this too far, and maybe we WILL have fun in this new world order...
or maybe not.

15 months ago: I'm a huge Monopoly Player and have many different versions of the Board Game and a couple different computer versions too. I've played a lot of computerized versions of Monopoly on different platforms, but I'm not sure how Monopoly Live will rate.

The one bad thing about the computer version is does not take into account some of the personalization of the game. For example some people like to tuck the Chance and Community Chest money players have to pay under the corner of Free Parking and whoever lands on Free Parking next gets that money.

There is also the Auction Rule that I don't like to play with. The rule states that if a player lands on an Un-Owned Property and they don't Buy it, it goes up for Auction and the other Players bid on it. When I play against computer players I exploit the rule by not buying something then running up the bid and making a computer player waste their money. That way I can Bankrupt them faster.

I once watched to computer players run up the Auction Bid against each other. Monopoly already had an Electronic Banking version before so this is just the next step. Kids today are too sophisticated and a classic board game just won't cut it in an Xbox or Play Station world anymore.
