It seems like the federal government's plan to carefully undermine foreign car companies' reputations is succeeding. Today, there was another recall. Nissan announced that some 540,000 vehicles have issues with the brakes or fuel gauge.
Unlike the Toyata recalls, Nissan said that no accidents have been reported due to the flaws, but that there is a possibility that the brake problem could cause an accident. Apparently, there are two issues that caused the Nissan recall. The first is a problem with a pin in the brake pedal. If it comes loose, a driver could lose the ability to stop quickly. The second Nissan recall issue, a gas indicator flaw, isn't as dangerous, but could be very irritating. On some models, the fuel gauge may indicate an incorrect amount of gas, which could cause drivers to run their tanks dry.
This is the full recall list from Nissan:
Models and numbers of vehicles with potentially affected brake pedal pins are:• 2008 through 2010 model year Nissan Titan, Armada, Quest and Infiniti QX56.• 178,916 in the U.S., 25,869 outside the U.S.Models and numbers of vehicles with potential fuel gauges inaccuracies are:• 2005 through 2008 model year Nissan Titan, Armada and Infiniti QX56.• Nissan Frontier, Pathfinder and Xterra produced between January and March 2006 and between October 2007 and January 2008.• 418,865 in the U.S., 53,253 outside the U.S.
Nissan suggested that car owners that are at risk take their vehicles to a Nissan or Infiniti dealership. Sorry, guys.
