National Defense Authorization Act will allow US Army personnel to legally engage in both sodomy and bestiality. These are some rather strange provisions. I could understand that the new act gives authorities right to hold you in detention and torture you indefinitely, but I really do not understand the need for NDAA to allow sodomy and bestiality.
National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 that will let current President as well as future leaders of America detain and torture Americans indefinitely has made it to the White House, and it is expected that it will soon be signed into law by the President. This Act denies "
suspect terrorists" reading of "
Miranda Rights," allows torture of prisoners and suspends the right to an attorney.
All this was pretty much covered by many reports, but sodomy and bestiality angle, everybody except PETA overlooked. For some weird reason, amendment asking for the appeal of the sex law, missing in the Act that went before the House, got snuck in under a revision from the Senate.
The Senate revised and approved NDAA now repels Article 125 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Article 125 used to say the following:(a)
Any person subject to this chapter who engages in unnatural carnal copulation with another person of the same or opposite sex or with an animal is guilty of sodomy. Penetration, however slight, is sufficient to complete the offense.(b)
Any person found guilty of sodomy shall be punished as a court-martial may direct. So, once the President signs this into Law, military will be unable to find troopers that commit those acts guilty of any crime. Now all sorts of sex (anal sex, gay sex, donkey sex, dog sex, camel sex...) are perfectly fine and legal. It's clear why Lassie is not coming home anymore.
PETA cries that it is "
flooded with calls from Americans who are upset that this ban has been repealed" and points out that "
animal abuse does not affect animals only - it is also a matter of public safety, as people who abuse animals very often go on to abuse human beings." Unfortunately, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals were unsuccessful at changing anything.
So, NDAA now allows both torture and sodomy as a way to extract information. Basically,
all acts portrayed in the photos and stories from infamous Abu Ghraib, that once shocked Americans, are now legal. Would somebody please explain how that make Americans more secure?
Anyway, if you happen to face arrest as a "suspected terrorist," please understand that your pet could be facing "fate worse than death" too...
