My work vanished upon hitting submit!! Is this relatable?

Have you ever started to post content on an online forum, content or blog website, fleshed-out your entire article/post, and hit the submit button, only to be taken to another page on the site and be prompted to sign up for the website -- looking as if you were never signed in to the website -- when initially (actually), as you were creating your content, you were sign in?

What could have been the malfunction in the system, that could have caused this mildly but definitely traumatizing experience for an online writer?

This has happened to me twice so far, on one specific discussion site -- the last time before this, was a while back. I will contact the site and try posting again; However, if it happens again... it will sadden me so -- as I will need to dismiss.

If you have any insight regarding this kind of malfunction, it would really be appreciated.

14 months ago: I use my personal editor for everything I write and save it, so that whatever happens on a specific site, I still have the original.
14 months ago: It sounds like the site Timed Out and kicked you off due to inactivity. If you open a window on some sites to type your article, if you take too long typing the site may time out because to the site you are not doing anything, you are on the same page, until you hit submit.

I always type my articles in Word and then copy and past them over to wherever I am posting. I also save a copy on my local hard drive just in case.
